Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Opinions on Felt Z70 and Price?

Don't know the year. Condition at least in pictures looks good but not pristine. Guy won't go below $450. It's basically an aluminum bike with carbon fiber forks and 105 group. Is it worth it? I'm 5'10 with a measured 33-34 inseam and it's a 58 but I like bikes on the big side.

What's wrong with your Defy? Why do you need another low-end to mid-range used road bike?

If you already have a rideable bike, the Felt doesn't look like much to get excited about. If your other bike isn't working for you, then you have to price in the value of getting out and riding as compared to waiting on the couch until the ideal bargain comea along

This forum is kind of creepy. I just asked about the Felt. I sold that Defy a while ago because I could never get the rear derailleur to stay adjusted. Sold it for what I paid for it. Not sure what the other comment meant.
Are there any other bike forums? Ones with information about bikes?

If you don't like it here, nobody will force you to stick around. We don't know why your profile lists a bike you no longer own, but as you now say you have no bike, I'll repeat the other part - haggling over the details of the cost of a low-end bike is a waste of time and riding opportunity if you have no other bike to ride. If the Felt fits you, buy it and ride it. The Felt is nothing impressive but if it has nothing wrong with it, a few hundred bucks is not much to pay for a rideable road bike.

Also, if you can figure out the model year, this site might help you

I'm just asking if $450 is too much for this particular bike.
That requires a "yes" or a "no". Not a lecture. Since I'm just getting lectures I thought maybe there were other sites I could try. Bicycle blue book lists the bike at $289 for a private party sale.

So very sorry that we are not providing the service you demanded.

This is a place where people discuss bicycles. It's not an appraisal agency.

If you already knew a blue book value, you shouldn't expect more info here.

If the blue book value you got was from the link I gave you, then you seem a little less than grateful.

This is kinda like asking if a Civic with 150k miles is priced right- even if it's on the expensive side of the spectrum, it's still going to be priced well within reason, but there also going to be a huge number of other cars in the same price range...and not many people discussing them online because they weren't that interesting when they were new, and are even less so now.

That bike seems appropriately priced for the current market, though no one would call it a good deal. Felt makes good bikes, if that one has been well maintained/doesn't need wear items that would drive up overall cost of acquisition, and meets whatever your wants/needs are (all you've given us is wanting a bigger frame than would be recommended), go for it.

Ok. Thanks for the answer. I'll hold out for a lower price.

Not sure I "demanded" anything. Bicycles weren't being discussed, just questions based on an outdated profile.

I appreciate the link to bicycle blue book. I was already aware and also am aware that a lot of people feel they aren't good estimates.

This is a very interesting forum

Try Paceline and Velocipede Salon, let us know if you find them more indulgent. FWIW, that bike is too large for you. Stick with a 55 or 56.

Ok thanks. I agree 58cm is probably too large. I feel like the last bike I had felt small at 56cm even though on paper it supposedly was the right size. I have a long torso but shortish legs. Measuring inseam seems like an inexact science. When I measure there is definitely some "give" of at least a cm or two. I'm not overweight or anything but I feel like when I measure myself I can make my inseam anything from 32 to 34 cm. Don't want to get too graphic on that front.

I'm sure the best thing would be for me to just go to my LBS and get fitted and then just buy a new bike but at this point it's just too ingrained in me to pay 50% more than I need to. Fortunately for our economy, not everyone is as frugal as I am.
