Replacement Hoods Shimano please help

Hi

I measured the hoods that are on the bike now and are 3 inches long by 2 inches wide.

Cane creek measures at 4 inches in length.

Is there any other replacement hoods the size I need 2 x 3 ??

These are for a Univega Nuovo Sport.

Late 80s I'm guessing

Appreciate any and all help

Few pics attached

I have a pair of the early SOMA hoods on my Univega (Shimano 600 levers - almost certainly not what it was originally equipped with). They were a bit loose. I wound up wrapping a couple layers of bar tape around the lever bodies. Still not perfect, but pretty decent.

I also don't know if SOMA redesigned them. I bought mine right when they first came out. YMMV

If the trash bin is the alternative, I’d scrub them with acetone. I’ve had white hoods like those clean right up. Surprisingly didn’t turn them to goo or dry them out. Not recommended for routine hood cleaning but worth a shot.

As an alternative, try cleaning with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge. Not as caustic as plonz 's suggestion about acetone, IMO. Your original, ones, while dirty, do look to be in good shape.

Thanks pb and others who suggested the Mr. Clean

I ordered the m Mr. clean eraser sponge the other day and will try that.

If it works...that will be great, I'll have the new hoods as back -up

I have done this as well, and as long as it is not something funky staining it (certain oils/tar/grease), it works decently well. I've also had some success with simple green.

I cleaned up a set of white Hunt-Wilde style grips with regular ‘ol dish soap, warm water and a toothbrush. It worked great! I did the same with the grips on my 55 year old Raleigh Sport and same great result. Simple Green would probably work as well if not better.

I've used scrubbing bubbles (bathroom cleaner) and an old toothbrush on white hoods in the past with good results.

Talcum powder. I use it on my gray Sante hoods every so often.

I had good luck on some old white hoods using mild dish soap and Bon Ami (gentle) abrasive cleaner. A small can of it should cost under $1 at Target.

See starting on post #50 here, on page 3: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...t-night-3.html
