Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

I built these last spring knowing that I'd be getting a gravel bike sooner than later. It's 32h front and rear and DB with aluminum nips. I'm 140lbs and dropping.

I rode them through the summer on my mountain bike and 2.2 tires with no issues. I hit a few bits of xc gnarlitude with them. They were true when I pulled them off.

Once on the SX, I did get a wider and heavier wheelset for the MTB.

I'm only a few rides in and so far no issues.

The obvious lack of aero is obvious. I didn't buy them for that.

They went tubeless painlessly but I did overinflate once and blow off the rim. Scared the neighbors and the dog. A standard 23 wide rim over 100g heavier probably wouldn't do that. No other issues since.

The only time I really railed them, I was so cold that I couldn't feel anything. No clue how they performed. Other than that, my rides have been painful and mellow, since I really got out of shape in the winter.

The latest form of this Trek 750 includes a Kalloy branded Nitto imitation seatpost to replace the OEM seatpost that kept slipping. Front derailleur was swapped from XT 737 to Ultegra. I'm pretty happy with this setup, put 7 hrs in the saddle on mixed terrain with no issues.

Hey thanks! It's a Trek 412 from 1980 (I think...) rattle canned by a previous owner. It's proving to be a solid choice for mixed surfaces.

I would love to bring to life an older Trek frame. So many great builds out there. Two right here. Love it.

I'm impressed that there are dual pivot calipers that can clear Maxxis Ramblers, I had no idea. The bike looks great btw, looks ridden!

My vintage 1992 Koga-Miyata Traveller touring bike turned gravel. 40x622 tyres and an Ultegra 2x 11 Deore drivetrain. Microshift bar-ends are on their way... somewhere but they are sold out everywhere in Europe.

New stickers are being made in the original style with the text "Graveller"

They are from a Koga Beachracer but are originally made by Satori. I got one second hand with a pair of wheels with matching hubs. You can buy them separately here but not sure about shipping to the US.

The Koga model is sold under a number of different names like the Dajia Cycleworks Far Bar, Genetic Digest, Satori Boondocks or the Origin8 Gary Sweep OS.

So been riding this for a few months now. Had it built cause I wanted something similar to a Cutthroat but with my limitations this was the best I could do.

I love the handling so much that I bought a sus fork for it for even more power. I don't think it'll be allowed on this sub-forum once that comes....

I have what I believe to be the same frame moldering away in my carport. I forgot it was there along with a couple other bikes that had somewhat major issues and were parked. Little to no rust on anything, where the other two looked like they were under the ocean for a decade. Just got all the stuff together I need to rescue it. This is REALLY making me want to put drop bars on it.

All our bikes are "gravel" these days. 15-20 or more year old mountain bikes with slicks and rigid forks, flat bars though.

Work in progress. True Temper OX Ultra 2 tubes with a 80s Stumpjumper biplane fork. Mix of parts with a 1x9 Deore setup.I still need to trim the cable housing and cable the rear derailleur.

Looks good, not just for a mismash bike build, but just in general- it looks cool. If the frame and fork were one color, I wouldnt have thought twice of it being an original frameset from the side. The front pick gives the biplane away.

An old school OX frame and biplane fork?!?! Super cool match right there.
The house brand frames from Performance/Nashbar/REI/etc back in the 80s and 90s contained a lot of really quality tubed frames. Tange 1, TT OX, etc.
