Love this bike. Don't ride it enough. Gets after it pretty good for it's age. Not the best pic, but was stopped and was admiring it. Please excuse the lights.

1969/1970 I think

You've got a couple of interesting touches on that thing - wouldn't mind hearing about them...

So is it cosmic irony that you made a (kind of?) SS out of an Allez when at points in its life the road version Langster was basically an Allez frame with trackends?

Ride safe...

well, I got the frame for free, and the paint is pretty dinged up, so building it back up as an expensive geared bike didn't make much sense. So I built it as a discount single-speed and used up lots of mismatched leftover parts I already had (the suspension seatpost, short-reach gravel handlebar, 7 speed freewheel hybrid wheels, the crank, stem, etc). Still, I think it came out quite nice looking.and it rides great.

Slightly new configuration, new/old cranks, and a new but still silly carbon saddle that better matches the bar tape.. 48-15 fixed. Had fun refinishing some old Dura-Ace 7700 road cranks. The chain line with the Ellipses is darn near perfect.

Almost two years on this odd "advertised and sold in the West, likely made in the East..." Ti and Carbon beast, and I am loving it. Tried a metric century in the Berkshires the day this picture was taken. Made it 93 odd km and then completely bonked. This picture was taken while killing time, waiting for my wife to snag me. She agrees that I am a total wuss...

At least I got a good picture...

Yeah I was curious about the seatpost, & especially about the multi FW - I guess combined with the tensioner you can change gears, amirite?

Have fun...

yup. There's enough slack that the chain can be set on the 14, 16, 18, or 20 cogs at any time just by nudging the tensioner:

and another glamour pic for no reason

I had left this bike back in Illinois before I moved to South Carolina because I just didn’t have the space for it.

Sold a few bikes and tore down my track frame to make room for this lovely bike path cruiser. My parents visited recently and thankfully they had some room to bring it down

1976 Motobecane Grand Jubile. Velo Orange porteur bars, 70’s Ideale 80 saddle, 70’s Pellissier track hubs. Very chill 44x17 on 700Cx32 tires.

Needs a shorter BB spindle and a silver chain but as it sits it’s so much fun to ride.

And maybe some French brake levers and calipers to really refine the build

Either 74 or 75. Fitted a replacement fork, as it came with a generic aluminum. Although not original, the fork matches much better (from a Roberts). Unsure what I'll do with it, or even if I'll keep it as it's a smidgen small in top tube length. Plan to get some mileage and swap out the horrible crankset.

That bike is pretty sweet! I would suggest putting some bottle cages on it for your next metric 😎.

Did my first century 110mi last year on a fixed gear. Legs were like jello at the end, almost 4800 ft of climbing too.

I took the 1970 Gitane Mexico out for its maiden ride last Sunday. It didn't break and I didn't die, so it was a grand day out.

IROn horse

Love this bike. Kinda wonky sizing (short TT) but fits well. Needs tape and probably new bar/stem combo. Rides well. Took a romp around Chicago Saturday, it was beautiful out. Nice to be getting miles in regularly again.

Middle Eastern wedding going on in the background, was effing cool

I got the bad quite a few years ago, for a ridiculous deal. I bought a few to sell, and kept one to match a water bottle I have. When I finally used it, I immediately regretted selling the other bags. They are not necessarily pretty, but mine has been a trooper. I love it and wish I had a couple more.

Ride looks great! Not sunny here today, but I intend to get some miles in as well.

Thanks - yours too. How can anyone not like an IRO?

If you really would like to add another Woho to your collection I have a yellow one that never latched onto the bike I had in mind for it lurking around here somewhere. Cover the shipping and its yours. PM if interested.

Ride safe...

I was intrigued with F/FW bikes but have always been a gear changer. This bike was being used as a commuter for a 4-5 mile round trip by a guy who stored his bike in the same locaiton.
After a couple of weeks without seeing it, I ran into him in the locker room and asked why he wasn't riding.
He forgot to bring the bike in during the weekend and left it locked to his porch. The wheels and cock pit were missing the next morning. Because it had a stuck seat post, he was ready to move on. He stated, in frustration, that he was going to put it on CL for $100. I responded with "let me know before you do it" 2 weeks later he offerred it up without the brakes.
I negotiated a 50% discount with the brakes and the likelihood of not being able to remove the post. Done.
The post required lye removal. The sealed BB was rusty and gritty, I needed wheels but the rest was in the stash. Long story shortened but here is the final result. Haven't ridden it in 4 years. It at the top of my frame size at 61.

Fully fixed. Rarely ridden on streets. Right now it is my only bike and I'm doing about 100 miles a week on paved bike trails.
