Looking for grippy platform pedals under $40

Can anyone suggest a set of good, grippy platform pedals for $40 or less on Amazon? I'll be putting them on a MTB but I ride on the pavement most 90-95% of the time. I've seen some highly reviewed nylon pedals with studs, but plenty of reviewers have started the pedals break.

Thank you!

I can't even pronounce most of the cheap pedals on Amazon. MZYRH? CXWXC? XEWEA?

Anyway, if you insist on further enriching Spaceman Jeff, it looks like you can get some Race Face Chesters there for $40.

Rockbros composite mountain bike pedals are about $25. I have the extras large ones and I like them. The screws/pins on Rockbros aren't as long as Race Face Chesters, so they're not quite as grippy as Chesters (at least the versions I have aren't).

The screws on Chesters were too long for my taste, and the Chesters were too small for me.

Thermalite pedals FTW. 5,000 miles on mine so far and I love them.

I'm a big fan of the MKS RMX pedals, which are like $30 or less.

I’ve been happy with Crank Brothers Stamp 1, large, which I see are typically about $42 on Amazon, but vary down to mid-$30s depending on color/size. Composite bodies, but metal pins, and some nice color options.

I’ve never been a fan of plastic/composite pedals, but the Chester’s seem to be highly regarded. I run MG1’s but that isn’t applicable to your question.

Unless you are riding where you are going to have rock strikes, you just want a decent pedal.

Serviceable sealed bearings are nice, but you may never need to touch them. Pedals where there are bearing/spindle problems are ones to avoid.

Thanks tyrion, and thanks to everyone else for the other suggestions. I ended up going with these XL Rockbros that tyrion suggested. I looked at all the suggestions and I think these suit me best. I won't be climbing hills, or standing for any road peddling, so I think these might hold up. What really sold me was the size, i wear 12.5 shoes and think the extra room might be nice. Also, these will be replacing oem pedals on a Giant Talon 4 so I'm guessing they'll be a decent upgrade.

Thanks again for the input everyone

I have 2 pairs of these. They are Chester clones and sell them under numerous different brands. I'v never had a problem and the price is right.
However, if you can afford the Chesters, go for it

Spend the extra $10 for alu ones. They will last 2 or 3 times as long. Probably more serviceable as well.
I love my $50 Vsixty ones with pegs that don't fall out. But for sure do NOT get their cheap loose bearing ones at about $30. They actually look the same on the outside, but have idiotic 1/16 " bearings, impossible to service.
I also have a real nice "1664 brand" BMX 1/2" pedal with proper 5/32" loose bearings, for my 1973 CCM. I had to PL glue the screw pegs in.
The new fad of skinny pedals is sooooo dumb. WHY??

I've got a pair of DMR V6 pedals on both my MTBs, nylon, big platform, pretty light and about $30. Surprisingly grippy too as it can be a bit of work to adjust foot position.

Stolen Brand Thermalite BMX pedals are terrific values for under $20. I rode a set for a couplafew years. I smacked them against rocks and they held up. I scraped them on the pavement when I forgot to lift the pedal to 12 o'clock with 175 cranks, and it just buzzed off a little plastic material without pogo launching me off the bike. When they loosened up too much I retired them to a seldom ridden errand bike.

My favorite hybrid has worn iSSi Thumps for two years. Great pedals for under $50. Reportedly iSSi is being sold or changing brand names, so you might find discounts on new/old stock pedals.

We sell a ton of Chesters at the shop and have pretty good luck with them.

These are nowhere close to $40.00 but they've become my favorite flats...
