6'1", with a 35" inseam. The frames I ride range from 61cm to 65cm. (That's 24 1/32" to 25 19/32" for those without the handy converter app

179cm (that's 5 ft 10") and a size 53,5cm road bike and a 54,5 cm cross/gravel/whatever bike, and a TT bike which Canyon labels as small size (which, since it's a TT bike, well, top tube length isn't comparable to a road bike - but Canyon road bikes in size S fit me, too). I also rode on the trainer a 54cm road bike which belongs to my wife.
The differences between a size up and down aren't big; I ride my road bike with a 12cm stem and the cross/gravel bike with a 11cm stem and it produces very similar stack and reach. I could probably ride a 56cm just fine; I'd just need something like a 10cm stem - it's the excessive stack height that would bother me.
TT bike sizing is another kettle of fish - the big pain in the backside was getting the setup to be compliant with the setup rules (because as people tell me, they do check for that here in Croatia), especially the 75cm from BB to end of extensions, and I don't think I could've done that on a bigger bike.

I'm 178 cm which is almost 5'10, I got a 54 diverge expert and found my legs cramped inside the bike with my toes occasionally in the way of front tires however upper body was stretched. Unfortunately got into an accident and cracked my frame now I've ordered size 56 online and waiting for it to arrive. Quite nervous regarding the fit, could you spare a thought on what kind of fit problems I may encounter?
You are right in the middle of their size for 56...you can probably make it fit comfortably with some adjustments to stem angle/length.

I'm a tad under 5'6", ride a 53 Cannondale. I wish the bike was a 52 but I think I handle it ok and have a over an inch between me and the top tube when standing flatfooted. Mentally I think I would be happier with a 52. My old mid 80s Asian steel frame is 21 inches, so the 53 is smaller, both have 700s. A friend was trying hard to sell me his older Allez that is 54. It seemed to fit me the same as the 53 and I liked the bike just couldn't see me on a 54 when a 53 is really about the limit.

I could size down but prefer longer wheelbase and higher stack for endurance.

I am 6' 2" and have 1 bike at 58 cm and 3 at 60 cm. All of this is a little misleading as the geometry of different bikes with the same called size and vary so much between brands and even between different models within a brand. Unless you have an integrated headset you can adjust your reach and stack to fine tune what is comfortable for you. The integrated headsets look great but the lack of easily adjusting is the reason I moved the one I had along.

I'm 191-192 cm with bikes ranging from 58 cm to 62 cm with 59-60 cm most common.

I'm 6'3" and my all rounder is a 60cm with 80mm stem. I also ride a 25" vintage Schwinn roadie and a 21" trek 930.

5' 6+", 54 CM classic frame. I bought the frame in 1981, and it fit perfectly; now it's a little big, but not so big that I need to replace it.
There are at least 2 ways to measure seat tubes - center-top and center the center of the top tube or virtual TT. A frame measured 53 CTC will probably be a bit (less than one CM) taller than a 54 CTT. If you're interested in standover, ST angle has an effect. A slacker angle will have a lower TT.

I like speed
I'm 5'10" (177.8cm) and currently riding a 55cm with a 100mm stem and a 54cm with 110mm stem. For my body, I only look for effective top tube length to be at 54 and 55cm.

I'm 5'7" with a 28" inseam. I ride a 52 cm Orbea Orca with an 80 mm stem and a 38 cm short reach drop bar. I also have a 53 cm Litespeed Vortex with a a 53 cm top tube 54 cm seat tube. I spent almost a year trying to .get the Litespeed to fit, and while I got close, it still never felt right. With the Orbea, I was able to get a comfortable fit almost immediately. I also owned a 54 cm Trek Domane that I put a flat bar on. For whatever reason, the flat bar configuration made it easier to achieve a comfortable fit.

5’-10”. Typically fit something like a 50cm traditional, or 48ish compact. The sizing is mostly driven by needing a short reach.
