Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any of you east coasters going to this big show? This lineup on a single stage would've been difficult to imagine in 1994 (ignoring the Black Keys' not existing yet).

DSL is through a phone line, but not dialup. And no.

We went from dialup to FIOS fiber optic about 5.years ago. They never offered DSL in our neighborhood.

That was a shocking change!

I still remember my first telecommunications setup on a PC from home. It was a 300 baud modem and connection to CompuServe. That was approx 1986.

Today is full of you guys!

I got my first cell phone in 1991. Didn't have internet service until about 1996 or 1997.

They are coming out of the woodwork!

I got my first cell phone when I started dating Mrs. Mojo. She lived in Dallas, and a phone call from my house to hers was long distance. The cost of the cell phone plan, which included calls to Dallas, was less than the long distance charges I was paying. That was when the phone was included in your plan costs.

I know - I was cool.

Not sure what happened since.

You can still get the phone included if you’re not too bougie.

Also I wonder if I’ll start remembering I was cool when I get to your age…

You tend to remember those fleeting moments. They are called the "good old days." Every old guy talks about them.

The Chevy Colorado came with weird bolts for the exhaust manifold, they were more or less self tapping, and they break when you try to unscrew them sometimes. You cannot remove them with an extractor. We had a service guy who would come out and use little grinders to disintegrate the bolts. It was amazing.

Some guys weld a nut to a broken bolt to remove it.

In watchmaking, as you can imagine, screw heads break off on old watches sometimes. Because the plates and bridges of the movement are usually some form of brass or other nonferrous metal, you can take a plate with a broken off screw and boil it in an Alum solution and the steel screw will dissolve but the plate itself will not be affected.

I guess you can't to that with a broken steel screw in a cast iron block......
