Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For reference, it's enough that AG was concerned about certain races (pre-pandemic) to the extent of seriously considering weekend trips to Maria to get some actual climbing training.
Years ago, Mrs. GJ and I were visiting our families in PA and Western NY, and I shipped a bike to Mom and Dad's so I could ride. One thing I discovered was that climbing Back East was different from California. The hills out here are high and steep, so the roads switch back a lot to make them more doable. Back East, the roads tend to go straight up through the passes with no switchbacks.

The other thing? It was August when we went. It was hot and humid. The air was palpable. Sweating did nothing to cool me, even ripping down through The Narrows at 20-30 mph. Bleah.

Chickpea flour is good for papadums. That's probably about it.

Yup. We LIKE them that way!

p.s. here is one of my favorites. It's listed as 10.5% but the last 1/4 mile kicks up to something around 15%.

This guy knows! Wins $1MM+ at Colonial, and then heads to Buc-ee's.

Sam Burns, Scottie Scheffler went and did regular guy stuff after squaring off in Charles Schwab Challenge playoff (msn.com)

I used to love getting on the mountainbike and riding powerline and pipeline roads. Those are both great for insane grades that could've been easily avoided if the ROW was wider than 30'

In other cycling news, my 12 year old King Cage SS bottle cage has broken. I am tempted to repair with some tape, but I suppose I must buy a new one.

Their Ti cages are tempting but too rich for my blood.

What, you don't feel like you should try them, just so you can speak from experience about them?

(Just kidding! Though I do wonder whether this might actually be useful for docs prescribing psychoactives)

Funny you mention this. I am actually qualified to authorize medical cannabis in Pennsylvania for appropriate patients, but have never tried anything like that. I am not opposed to it, I simply don't have any interest. Same with alcohol. No thanks.

I use Minouras, but Titanium-colored on the Litespeed. I have resisted the temptation to cover it with other titanium bling.

I think cannabis products are one place where there's a lot of opinion, and a paucity of knowledge. Not that this should sway you, but as it becomes legal in more places, I suspect there's a fair amount of misinformation.

I would be interested in trying shrooms, if I had a safe and legal source. From what I hear there's a strong chance it would improve my mental issues.

Up until last year I had an almost complete 600 groupset. Some of the prettiest components ever made in my opinion.I gave it to a buddy that likes to build retro stuff.
