I've been avoiding this thread, cause I can't buy anything for awhile, lol, but glad a few forum members scored. 👍
goose neck was a Sting Ray era term.
I had not seen that reference for decades.

But I think the real reason to not use an old helmet is that helmet technology has improved significantly since those Vetta helmets were made.
Id pay $100 if we could get one of those Vettas, get a pic with Drillum Dude wearing it.

I managed to consolidate the Brev Camp flat lever QR brakes into three very nice units.
This required full disassembly and rebuild, including removal of some surface rust.
Only needed to dip into my parts bin for a couple small pieces.
Hoping this will enable me to recoup my $200 investment. What do y'all think?

A pair plus a spare - nice

I think you got quite the deal for 200 bucks, considering the derailleurs, hubs, spare bits (especially brake shoe holders), etc. Lot's of good stuff in that lot for the money, no question. When you shared what that haul cost, then showed a pic, I admit: I felt a twinge of jealousy!

Two of the Nuovo Record rear derailleurs are from '69, with a stamp of 'Patent' and no year.
I can come up with a good brakeset with those late-70's ones with the coated shoe guides.
It took some digging at the bottom of plastic bins to pull this off.
I could not find the right-side pedals for the road and track pedals.

At first the kids weren't going to let them go because they use them at Eroica so I didn't ask the price. When I got back from the ready teller with $ for the GR, they had decided to sell them but this time I didn't ask the price because I was already pushing my luck with the CFO.

If you're not swinging 10, don't have an ex-super model for a wife, don't have a Ferrari in the garage, etc, is filling a pile of plastic bins full of bicycle parts that will never be used really a satisfying compensation for the See-What-I-Got gene?

all y'all have a nice day

So, you're telling us that many of us are hoarders?
I resemble that remark.

Hey, totally with you on this, being keenly aware of this key prerequisite for being a bin-holder. I did skip the ferrari step and go straight to the plastic bins-- much lower gallons-per-mile ratio, unless we're talking gallon-sized plastic totes.
Also, I can neither confirm nor deny the metaphorical ferrari in the garage, so we'll keep that one under the hood.

The Super Record brakeset cleaned up nicely. They look near-mint.
Maybe used for a couple hundred miles.
Anyway, these have the aluminum brake shoes.
I plan to work on the long cage / Rally derailleurs next.

Pulled together a Patent nuovo record derailleur from my purchases.
As some would know, this is a rarity from '69. Very tight derailleur that somebody will surely want.
It took some knocks and shows some age, but no slop and it looks pretty nice.
It required some heavy cleaning. Stripped down to the bone and carefully scrubbed.
