We always used to call the spring sunshine an "Indian Summer". Can we say that here? Although the definitions I'm seeing online indicate the term refers to the fall.

My interpretation was that brief period of unseasonably warm and dry weather in the early spring, that was taken away just as quickly.

July and August is summer. September and October is Fall. November, December, January, and February is Winter. April, May, and June is Disappointment.

This year's weather for May and continuing into June, at least around Seattle, has reminded me of Santa Cruz CA. Sunshine, cool temps, breezy, rainless - but less fog. Praying for a low fire season in 2023.

This is not good. Looks beautiful now and is melting that heavy snow pack so hiking will be good if the air is clean, but fire season doesn't look good. I'm amazed that it's not bad yet. So far the fire map only shows small fires in the PNW.

It's beyond Mother Nature now, or perhaps we should say she's gone over to the Dark Side. We're just another species who outbred and overgrazed their environment and now there's going to be a big die-off at least, and maybe an extinction depending on whether the oceans switch over from oxygen production to hydrogen sulfide like they did the last time this happened due to the CO2 emitted by Siberian volcanos. I doubt we can reverse the forces that got us here. They're built into our species and have powered us to where we are. We're the lucky ones. I think there's a song about that.

Up here on the Blaine border, this week has been brutal… From near 50, straight downs to 3 degrees and hold that temp for way too many days… East winds from Canada, more brutality… At least the sunrises have been pretty good…

800' elevation in King County foothills. Last 3 nights single digit lows, maybe above freezing for a daytime high tomorrow. Rain to follow when it warms. At least cold & snow lets me ski the neighborhood, this has been very cold & dry. Brrrrr...

I've lived on Whidbey Island for nearly 30 years now, and it still grates on me a bit that there have only been 2 times when I didn't have to wear my winter coat to watch the 4th of July firework display. Summer starts in the middle of July.
