Sram brake sleeve nut won't fit into frame's hole

The frame here is a 2008 Opera Canova (same as Pinarello fp3 I think). The frame fixing nut, or sleeve nut, or whatever it's called is too wide to fit into the hole for mounting the rear brake. This seems strange since the hole in the fork has no problems. I'm using sram force brakes which come with a few nuts in various lengths, but they are all the same diameter and don't fit the hole.

What's the solution for this?

Sometimes the problem is just too much paint/clearcoat, right at the front of the hole. A round file or dremel sanding drum can fix it.

So the frame has clear coat on top of carbon (no paint). Your solution seems simple for sure. I'm just nervous about damaging the structural integrity. I've emailed both sram and pinarello to see what their responses are. I'd guess they'll say, "dremel at your own risk" and void any warranty since they have liability issues to worry about.

I'm curious how often you've drilled or dremeled out like that and how common it is. Ever had a problem with it. Etcetera.

Thx

still worried that it's possibly dangerous.

A short 5/16" drill bit turned by gripping it sideways in a pair of pliers or Vise Grips can be used to ream out the hole to the proper diameter. You have to turn it a fraction of a rotation at a time but it will work and should only remove the paint or clearcoat that's clogging the hole. Do NOT drill from the rear of the frame, you only want to open up the side of the hole facing the seat tube.

+1 Hillrider. I'd try it by hand though.

There's no good reason why it shouldn't be the standard size; I bet it's just not finished properly.
