Friendly Suggestions for Holiday / NewYear Group Buy?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Friendly Suggestions for Holiday / NewYear Group Buy?

Hi

I am talking with bikeforums about a group buy type deal. My idea would be something that members could order for themselfs during the holidays and then get after the New Year - but early in the spring season.

My ideas are:

1 - Real Famous Name Carbon Fiber Road Frame that lists for $2199 at about 65% off. {also have access to another that lists at $1899}

2 - Real Famous Name Carbon Fiber Road Frame built up with $1000 worth of Ritchey WCS stuff plus about $1000 of Shimano/FSA/CaneCreek components -- so about $4000 of stuff at under $2000

3 - Traditional Road Frame lugged with 853 tubing - branded Motobecane

4 - Ti framed Moto road bike with $1000 of Ritchey WCS & Full Ultegra SL group at under $2000 [frame tubing & work on level of LiteSpeed]

5 - Track Frame lugged full Chr-moly

6 - Naked CF road frame [again -- so not that exciting]

7 - 20 lb XC mountain bike in Ti with XTR & Juicy Carbon & Sid - under $2000

8 - Ti cyclo cross bike with Ultegra or and lots of Ritchey Pro stuff -- $1500 [no disc brakes - so its legal]

9 - Tig Road Frame in 853 -- probably about $399 with fork

10 - something else I can not think off

I thiunk this can be kind of fun; and I might try to get some clothing that says BF & BD on it as an extra give away.

I would be happy to hear constructive comments

You guys ever thought about selling race wheels?

The only kind of bike I need right now is a track bike (no more loaner). I might be interested in MTB as well, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to sell my soul just yet. I do need some race wheels, though...

Probably could have sold a bunch of these if you could have done it before cross season, but still can get plenty of people like me interested for winter training bikes.

We sell Vuelta race wheels now; and they sell very well

This is popular:

https://vueltaxrpwheels.com/team_sl.asp

If you want to 'sell your soul' to a MTB -- it is hard to beat a Moto FLY -- most magazine mention road bikes when they reveiw FLYs - since they are so light

I was wondering how the Road members would like a group buy on a FLY 9357 at around $1100 and about 20 lbs -- as a pre-order deal - might do a special color - like anniversary SID BLUE

I can't find a link to any Vuelta products on your sight.

And, after reviewing Vuelta's products, that's not quite what I mean.

Gigantex carbon tubular rim, decent spokes, heavy but decent hubs. That sort of thing.

https://www.chucksbikes.com/store/big_wh035.htm @ $650

or

https://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=w0001 @ $770.

Plenty of them out there. And with the volume you guys generally sell at (assumption based on perception) you could probably get a NICE deal.

3, 5, 6, or 8. I like 8, but it will be after the season so many may not want one when it comes to delivery time.

#4 or #8, leaning more to #8.

I also like #11 - Ti singlespeed mountain bike (similar to the Motobecane you are currently offering, which is nice, but this one will have disc brakes) Oh yeah, no decals.

How about something COMPLETELY different? A single-speed road frame -- carbon or not -- (with brake mountings) that comes in at 1.1 kg for a 54cm frame. Plus, a selection of D/A & other top-shelf single-speed components.

#3 please. This would be like your Mercier Serpens but lugged, right? Frameset preferred, as large as possible, 64cm if available.

How about a 69er mountain bike. Rigid 29" wheel/fork combo up front with a 26" in the rear. I would get in on a group buy for something like that in a heartbeat.

On my wishlist would be #4. Hope you offer it...

More realistically, I would probably be able to afford the CF frame (#6). Second chances are always nice.

Thanks Mike!

10. Components that can be added to existing frames.

How about better-than-PBK pricing on complete group sets? You guys seem to have a pretty good line on Shimano stuff. Shipping should be less from here in the States, so maybe it could happen.

Wheels? Already mentioned, and an excellent idea.

High quality TT helmets? Buy 100 and sell them to us. The season will be upon us soon enough.

Stuff like that.
