I've never seen them before and my very first thought was 'wait...what the...wait...is that...why?"

The steeper chainstay angle is in the inside/low side of the track for stiffness. The more relaxed chainstay angle is on the outside/high side of the track for compliance. I totally made this up.

About the only reason I can come up with that isn't blatant BS is that offsetting the attachment prevents the fillets from interfering with each other while building the frame. It shouldn't even be a problem then, but who knows?

From the site:

So what’s with the asymmetric seat stays? Mathew tells us: “The reasoning behind the offset ‘Möbius’ stays is that it makes the drive side stiffer when pedalling. By nature 99% of bikes are slightly out of balance because the drive is on one side and frames are not built to account for it.”
I don't know...

Still bike porn worthy craftsmanship there, whether or not it makes any difference in ride or performance. I too have never seen this before, which is why I posted it.

Sounds an awful lot like those kooks who talk about wheels being out of balance because of valve stems.

Does that excessive tire clearance look odd to anyone else?

That De Rosa is so gorgeous. I think the tire clearance actually looks great - a wider tire would clash with the rest of the build.

Yamaguchi builds frames like a nutjob, but I kinda love them.

I think I remember reading somewhere that he took the seat tube out of this one to make it more aero.

I agree, a wider tire would be wrong. I'm saying the fork isn't tight enough. It's like a touring fork with room for a fat tire and fenders. Seems out of place on a track bike.

^ What's the deal with that thing, does it require some proprietary tool for installation/removal? quality lock rings dont need any special rehasing, maybe that's why those things are on sale.
