Don't know about that, but I can't think of a more inappropriate placement/system combination than grip shifters in the middle of drop bars. That's got to be super awkward.

It's true.... The part of the bar in between the two shifters is actually an outer "cuff" that clamps the left and right half of the handlebar together.

Yes that is what I experienced, a two piece handlebar joined in the middle with a sleeve or cuff. It was to allow for the installation of grip shifters.

The KENT GMC Denali is now called The KENT Genesis Saber.
As I was riding today, I met someone that was riding what I was certain was a GMC Denali but upon closer view it is the same bike, but KENT is now placing different decals on that long-time widely popular econo bike since Kent's licensing deal with General Motors expired some time ago.
I told him that I'm certain that his NEW bike is exactly the same as the "famous" GMC Denali that everybody ordinary but not a serious cyclist loves and the LBS crowd seems to hate because it is a reliable enough bike at a reasonable price to drive bicycle consumers to Walmart & Amazon. It really rings hollow, with no credibility when the Beavis & Mutthead , the dumbo LBS flunkies say that the particular bike formerly known as GMC DENALI, now known as GENESIS SABER is an unreliable piece of trash, because as we have seen with 20+ pages on threads here on bikeforums, that it is a particulary reliable, 31 pound, economy bike, that is capable of doing 5000+ miles with little other than tires, tubes and brake pads, assuming that it is assembled, greased, and properly adjusted.
It is great that this legendary infamous bike still lives on in NEW PRODUCTION as the KENT Genesis Saber.
LOOK AT THE LARGE PHOTO seen in Bagel Bob's 9-14-21 post....POST#67 and seen again in POST#71 its a photo of GMC DENALI
Current GENESIS SABER:

Here is the old GMC Denali:
https://kent.bike.com/collections/ro...mc-road-denali
***** LIKE THE Previous DENALI, the current KENT GENESIS SABER is AVAILABLE in 3 different Men's frame sizes, SMALL(20 inch) , MED (22), & LARGE (25).
There is also the former 17" Women's DENALI in the current KENT lineup with a different decal name.
So this widely popular bicycle does live on. Pandemic supply chain problems are significantly contributing to the scarcity of these GENESIS SABER bicycles.
Amazon is out currently, and what product that has made its way into retail store channels has proven to sell very quickly.
Well if you do locate a GENESIS SABER , realize that it is the same bicycle just different decal wording.

Newbie
I just got a free Denali that had been hit from the rear by a car. Needs rear wheel otherwise good. Someone is selling a set of wheels with tires for the same $40 that you found the bike for. I was figuring I could buy the wheels for $40 put one on and sell the other for $20. I would buy a good condition one for $40 all day long.
