Shifters are only 9 speed.
Won't work. The 10 cogs take up the same space as 9 cogs, so they're spaced differently. 3.95mm vs 4.34. So if your chain is lined up correctly on the smallest cog, you'll be way off by mid cassette.

Maybe for this month, but I personally can't handle multicolor tape as a regular diet.

Thanks, so I'm in the market for a 9 speed cassette.

The adapter I speak of totally craps all over your standard quill to threadless adapter; it's almost as nice as using a threadless 1" fork and shim.

@joejack951, I think. I reckon his jigger deserves a sticky in here.

Still trying to find a 9-speed cassette for my Ultegra wheels, color for bar wrap, cable housing color and saddle. Any ideas?

bar tape in yellow, white, or red only if you can find one similar enough to the frame red.

I think the Tiagra 9 speed cassette is still widely available and a safe bet.

I put 11-28 8 speeds on my Shimano 600 bikes and they work fine.

I'd like black bar tape to match the fork and stem. Murder-out up front, fire engine in the back.

The New 9 speed cassette won't go into this freehub.

So, after researching it seems I have the famous Shimano 10-speed only freehub.

I believe that is the infamous deep spline hub they had for a couple of years. The only cassettes that had deep splines were Ultegra and Dura Ace 10sp. Possibly 105 as well but I'm not sure about that. Good idea in theory but stupid in execution since you're limited in cassette selection. I have an aftermarket wheelset with deep splines and I didn't even know about it when I bought it.

Possible to swap freewheel, or would I need to swap hub and spokes and all?

You mean the freehub? It's possible an Ultegra 6700 will fit but I have no way of knowing for sure.

Are you going to go with that blue/yellow marble bar tape you have mocked up there? That'll pop with those wheels!
