Addiction 2023.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Velo Vol I rode out to my favorite bench and there was an outdoor wind band concert going on.

Disappointed that the authorities allowed people to drive on the MUP so that they could get closer via car. Had some extremely satisfying schadenfreude when a late model BMW got themselves stuck.

This was my first ride since wife got injured. They encouraged me to go out tonight and I'm so grateful.

Where is the band picture?

I've seen better benches here. Old timers will know what I'm referring to.

Ouch. I've never been the one deciding, just the one who has to tell them.

So much for my birding cred.
Yeah, the really big one with red in the head. Even the Red-bellied woodpecker has red in the head, but the Red-headed woodpecker has a totally red head and is much smaller.

I’ve been down that road. Ultra stressful. I’ve been the victim more than once. It’s been a bumpy road, but I always managed to land on my feet.

Our last big reduction in force was years ago. The day it was supposed to happen I had a meeting out in the field. The day before I asked our department head if I should still go. He said yes, which I knew meant I was safe. Called our paralegal once I got to the site. He informed me that he had been canned.
