What is this bike?

Very nice. Shimano 600 components all around. The head badge is a diamond shape with an image of a kangaroo in it.

Interesting that it has long reach Arabesque calipers (at least that is what they look like I think).

I actually did buy one of those a couple of months ago. It is a long reach Arabesque caliper.

Maruishi's 600EX model was the Road Ace 606. It morphed into the STR Record for the 1984 model year, when New 600EX was released. I've seen Road Ace 606 with brazed-on top tube brake cable tunnels, so this one is earlier and at least pre-1983. Those calipers are the standard reach version, as 600EX only came in one reach for the first two years. They didn't introduce the shorter reach version until the 1981 model year. Regardless, the standard reach version was a better match for the 27" wheelset spec'd on this model.
