Get a grip!
My new bar tape came with crappy finishing tape that didn't stick, so I had to figure something out.
My tool box had a roll of vulcanizing tape that I had used roadside to repair cooling hoses in the past...so I gave it a try. It came out so nice, I thought I'd share. Besides its nice appearance, it has no adhesive...it kind of reacts to itself & becomes a single blob. At any rate, taking it off yields no residue to mop up. I bought the stuff @ AutoZone (no affiliation).

Cool. I'll also finish the end with electrician's tape and then put the branded finishing tape over that.

I appreciate the info. I've always just planned on replacing the electrical tape every few months.

This stuff is magnitudes better than electrical tape ...ZERO residue left behind upon removal.

It's easier to find if you call it "self fusing silicone tape". You can also find it in a number of different colors.

Nice, I hadn't thought of colors. If glossy, like the black stuff I used, the colored version would look great & add a bit to your being visible on the road.
