Looks like it’s ready to ride home so hard to argue with $45. Ultimately comes down to what you’re looking for. The Marathon is a low-end 80s sport bike. Maybe $100 as a flipper. As a keeper, it’s fine for errand running and casual strolls. It’s not going earn any street cred on your next club ride.

It's going to need some maintenance. Count on anything with bearings needing tear down, cleaning, re-lube and reassembly. Cables look old too. Myself, I limit such projects to better bikes. I would consider this one entry level from that era.

It's worth $45. But I wouldn't buy it. At around the $50 mark, I am finding more worthy projects. Paid $40 for my last project buy (a week ago).

Big bike too, you will need to be tall.

Your Maruishi is a nicer bike. Get it finished up and ride. After a year or so you'll know what, if anything, you might like different,

+1 you already have a couple nicer bikes also the slammed low seat post and over high stem are red flags both may be stuck or screwed up. Myself I would buy it the nice Ultra sport tires with good tubes are worth 2x the ask price.
