According to Alan Cross and Alexis on Fire this is the gospel song that led to blues and then eventually rock and roll, with a modern flair. They said that other bands had explored the idea but concealed the religious aspect whereas they decided to embrace it. I'm kinda digging it.

Califone is indeed an amazing band, who apparently won't be touring much anymore. Middle age guys with jobs....

The front man Tim Rutili just made a film in which the band plays. They're traveling to support it now are are playing next week in Brooklyn, and at IFC in NY

Modest Mouse, Mars Volta, Sage Francis or Street Sweeper Social Club lately, but only before rides.

My earbuds drowned in my ears during a rainstorm a month ago. I don't want to spend the money on new ones.

When I'm in the mood for country, nothing beat George Strait. But I like Dierks Bentley too.

pretty much. The iPod is an original mini--the ones with powder coating. My wife keeps trying to update the list but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'll use this thread as a potential update list though.
