A Giant issue

Hello all!

I recently purchased a used Giant Cadex Monex at a flea market. I am the happiest person alive that I was able to get my hands on one of these frames in near mint condition.

Now, as I tried to go online to find the factory specs of the bike, I've hit a few snags. For one, I can't find it listed anywhere. The printing on the frame says 'Giant Cadex Monex Ltd', but I can't find the specs for this model anywhere. Attached are 2 photos in case they may help. The frame itself resembles that of a Giant MCM from 1997, but that's as close as I've come to figuring anything out. It doesn't appear in Giant's back catalogue

I'd love to hear from anyone who may know something about this bike. It would be super helpful. Thank you for your time.

Thank you seedsbelize for replying to my thread. Bikepedia was the first website I checked out when I first purchased the bike. It has been absolutely instrumental in my personal investigation. But I can't seem to find MY bike there. The Giant MCM 1 from 1997 looks like my frame, but nowhere on my frame does it say MCM 1. And none of the Giant bikes have the marking Monex LTD on the frame. Its a bit bizarre. But I will continue searching. If you have any other ideas, please let me know.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply to this thread.

I'd just stick with Cadex and leave it at that. It could have been branded Monex Ltd for any number of reasons. It looks great, and you'll be happy, despite not knowing the exact lineage.

I do recommend contacting Giant, or some long-established bike shops. There's almost always someone around who "remembers when." Good luck.

Try Google for hits like...

Giant MCM from 1997 - 7.57kgs - Weight Weenies

Maybe from there you can strike up an additional discussion.
