Raced CX today in a brutal windy day. Grass was thick and would have been tough in calm conditions. Add in 30+ mph winds and was very rough day. Another middle of the pack finish.

Added 10 miles to the monthly mileage total.

The best part of yesterdays race happened after. Two very little kids were there with their Mom watching their Dad race in the race after me. Big brother, about 4 was ringing a cowbell, but nothing for little sister. Pulled an old small red cowbell out of my tool box and discretely handed it to their Mom. She put it in her daughters hand and both kids were ringing away when I left. Was very cute.

I miss having little kids around. Mine are grown and in college and beyond.

Rainy today. No riding or racing Sunday. Am in the garage knocking crud off my bike and cleaning it up.

That sounds like a real struggle. I rode in my second cyclocross race last weekend, and although I'm in much better shape this year, it really dawned on me that CX is a high heart rate activity from start to finish. I can't imagine three races in one weekend, as much as I enjoy CX.

I hear that! Mine's growing up so damn fast, and she's only 10. Seems like yesterday when I was just holding her in my arms...

No real goal this month other than reaching the 1000k. But, looking at the above number, I can see 800 miles being pretty easy to reach by Halloween.
Crappy week so far. +100

191 MTD

Don't think I will make my 300 goal due to the weather turning. I've lost quite a few days just this week to storms and/or 20+mph sustained winds.

Business travel and some wet weather have kept me off the bike. 290 miles so far this month.

Raced CX on Sunday. Had one oh crap moment. Course went over a sandpile and I buried my front wheel on the downhill side. Momentum threw me straight over the bars and landed with a thud in the sand. Only ego was injured but the impact knocked my Garmin off and buried it in the sand. Had to dig while avoiding other racers. Found it. Remounted. Finished 17th I think in a class of 30. Overall a good day.

Couple days of 40 mile roundtrip commuting and my mileage is up to 375 for the month.

Last of our Wednesday night CX races this week. Going to race with the fast guys in the second race of the night. Ill get my butt kicked but the fun and party atmosphere will more than make up for the whipping ill get.
