Before I went I looked at some crazy guy postings, this was one of them. Is your answer here?

This whole concept of seasonal roads maybe not being open in June is really fun for the planning It'll give us something to do on the Sunday of arrival too, since we need to stock up on some goods, and stores have limited hours that day, and we arrive at 4am (with no sleep, I'm sure)

Thanks, but not particularly, my concern was more with early season flow. I've seen a few YouTube vids of the crossing itself, but none around the time of year I'll be there, and even some of the later season ones looks like it moves pretty good.

Any water crossings, you can assume that the water had been solid ice only a few hours earlier. For that reason, later in teh day if it warms up may have deeper water as more ice melts then. Do not take any undue risks, hypothermia is a risk if you fall in. I do not know if there are any good sources to check for water depth, but if there were any they would be rainfall dependent and therefore unreliable to forecast. I brought some waterproof socks, but never wore them.

If you have time for shipping, prices for Schwalbe from this German company are excellent. May be worth adding a few other items to reduce cost of shipping:

For example, Schwalbe Big Ben 26x2.15 are about $18 and Mondials 26x2.15 are $35.

Thanks! He ended up going with Big Bens from CRC, think they were $23, but he had some other stuff to pick up too. The more I read about them, I guess the more I wish I looked into them before buying the Conti Travel Contacts, they seem to have quite the love and following!
