I couldn't ride outdoors last weekend because of wind chills in the teens. I couldn't do my club's Wednesday night ride because I had to celebrate a friend's birthday drinking beer, so I have been chomping at the bit to get outside. When I went to bed last night the forecast was nasty cold front moving in, low 30s and sleet, freezing rain so I was set for a boring morning on the trainer. I was making coffee and stuck my head outside and was surprised to see it was about 40 and very grey but not raining and very little wind. Forecast indicated rain/sleet would hold off for another 3 hours. I almost ran to get in my gear. Out the door in about 12 minutes. 26 miles, 1350 feet of elevation gain, average temp. 37.4. Best of all, I stayed dry and (relatively) warm.

40 more miles with my two riding buddies. Second ride this week for Frank C. Glad to see him getting the spark back.

14.7 miles (23.7k). First ride since last Sunday. There have been intermittent days of sunshine and no wind amidst rain and wind (like today), but the health has interfered with riding. Felt really good to get out.

2018: 807m (1,299k) ♂ Total: 21,791m (35,069k)

I was held HOSTAGE on my Giant today. Last Sunday was Cross Florida 167 miler on the Roubaix and Thursday was 101 miles on the Roubaix so today I figured I'd ride the Giant Propel. Got out of the house a few minutes late so put a little extra effort in to get to the LBS for ride start. Two minutes out of the garage and had to roll at 22mph just making it before they started the ride. Decided to go with the A+ group of 5 guys and 1 woman informing them that I would ONLY be hanging on to the last wheel. One mile into the ride they were 23mph to 28mph so my wheel sucking lasted 5 miles then dropped off to wait for the A group.

While I was riding slowly I "Policed the Bike Lane" removing a big chunk of wood, a rock the size of a football along with some debris from it breaking up as it hit the pavement, pretty sure it fell from a construction truck and a bunch of 1" self tapping screws. A Group caught me and I took my turn up front a few times and then bowed out. This was at mile 35 and I had had enough so started to head for home when the bike made a left instead of a right. Blasted Giant had a mind of its own and took me farther away from home. Finally regained control and started for home when the bike made a right instead of going straight. I finally realized that I had been BIKE-JACKED and decided to Go With The Flow even though I was tired so I just kept pedaling. Hours later I was back into the garage having covered an additional 71 miles since I decided to head for home. Total for the day was 106 miles and I'm hoping the Giant is HAPPY.

BTW, home was only 5 miles away from my point at which I had decided to head for home. YUP-I was BIKE-JACKED!!!

56 Miles. Was a warm 59° today, I was over dressed but I knew I'd remove layers as I rode. Took off the jacket and warm gloves, wish my tights weren't so warm, they're my thinest pair. Was cloudy the whole ride, but the clouds were very high and I had a clear view of the mountains. Sun finally came out 3 minutes before the end of my ride.

86 mile group ride yesterday, which was for the most part tons of fun, right up until the crash at mile 55 that took down three of us (and ended the ride for one: bike was toast, so into the Uber he went). I've got a ton of road rash and bruising all over arms, legs, shoulder and hip. My bike needs a minor repair. Rider #3 is okay, just minor cuts/scrapes.

But jesus I'm getting too old for this...

Might still go out for a short ride today

21 miles on the tandem this afternoon after morning rains left. A bit cool but we enjoyed the ride, especially the rollers.

32 miles Sunday afternoon. Cool but sunny and clear and not as windy as the past few days. Legs and lungs felt pretty good. The rear derailleur swap I did the other day really helps, especially on hill climbs and top gear sprints downhill.

Today's ride with the calm weather is the best so far and lucky to have seen new route way home 4 miles lesser from work, so it's now just 11miles travel.

I did not ride today, I did something much worse: I took my bike on the subway. At rush hour! Man, I thought cycling in traffic was nerve-wracking...

10.1 miles (16.3k). Just to darn cold! It snowed yesterday in some parts near Reno/Sparks. Winter just won't let go.

No ride on Sunday. Winds were between 30 and 40 mph all day long. Yesterday was another windy day, although not as bad as Sunday. I think the winds only got to 32 mph.

This morning the winds were calm so the wife and I took advantage of it and went for a ride. I ended up with a nice 40 mile solo ride and she ended up with 27. Tomorrow is suppose to be another low wind day so I'm thinking of a 60 miler to help make up for missing a ride on Sunday,

Two out-and-back runs on different bikes.
50km total.
Dry, but threatening in the foothills.

40 miles on the road bike Tuesday afternoon. I considered joining a local club ride but could tell after a warm up ride it wasn't a good idea. Same old problems with neck pain, which makes it hard to concentrate in fast group rides in close quarters. So I went solo on pretty much the same route they follow. Good ride at my own pace, despite the stiff 20 mph wind with heavy gusts. Improved my times on a couple of segments.

YESTERDAY AT 2pm

Bob's text--------6pm my house
My reply---------slow, fast, warp speed???
Bob-------------20mph, about 6 so far
Me--------------will be, hopefully
Bob at 5pm------R-U-IN
Me--------------K

I kit-up, air tires, down a gel and head out. Four miles to his house and we roll out. Slow at first then I start to think----20mph my eye! Pulls start to hit 24/26mph soooo that's all you-all as they ease away. That happened at mile 20 and it being too few miles I just zig-zagged around. I brought my lights, turned them on then headed for home. Pulled in the garage with 65 miles completed.

Finally a day with little to no wind for the entire ride. Did my normal 40 mile route but ran into obstacles in the housing complex part of the ride. Looks as if all the lawn maintenance, cable people, tree trimmers and who ever were working there and they all wanted to park in the bike lane.

Today we have constant 20 mph winds with higher gusts. I mainly stayed in neighborhoods going uphill with the wind, and downhill against the the wind. It was actually easier going uphill than downhill. Got in 111 minutes.

Got in a 19 mile run last night. Lovely evening, if not a little "breezy"

Got a few PR's which I was after, too. So all good!

Looks light rain ahead, oh well, that's life.
Vintage Batavus with modern 9 speed drivetrain is a sweet ride.

Not much of a ride really, more a dog walk to the neighborhood grape patch. But i did practice slow speed handling and u-turns paced by sniffnpiss-on-everything Peter.

35-40 miles Thursday -- not sure since I forgot to restart Strava after a break. Joined a fast group ride and finished for only the second time. Got dropped again on hills, but caught up on the flats and downhills. Improved my times on several segments. Painful, but I've made some progress in aerobic conditioning since last year.
