I agree, very nice looking black anodized stem. Mine was in mint condition and I didn’t want to risk it getting damaged.

I thought NITTO was the manufacturer, but wasn't sure. I have a few of their stems and I like them. I keep anything in the 100-120 mm range for myself. Those seem to fit me depending on the frame.

That's a beautiful bike Shrevvy! What is the serial number of your frame? Supposedly about 68 of 100 were built by Tesch.

I own serial no. 001 of the 1987 Tesch built Team Allez, which is 56 cm. It is as originally delivered to me, with the exception of the saddle and cassette. Thank you dear nephew, who had the bike on loan for a number of years and opted to swap a few things out. At least he rode the bike and enjoyed the heck out of it while he had it. When I repossessed it, it sported a set of Mavic Helium rims; he had given the original wheel set away. I have the originals in my possession now, although they are not mounted to the bike at this time

I have the 1987 catalogue, which, if you have seen it, shows a few details that are different to the pics here and of other bikes you will find on the internet. The most striking are the top tube stripes. My frameset has three, which are front to back red, orange yellow. The bike in this thread and others you will see online have four stripes, with yellow at the front. The other detail is the raised "S" at the top of the seat stays. Mine are blue, internet picture bikes show them painted red. These details match the bike in the 1987 catalogue. My stem is unpainted aluminum with cinelli bars, the catalogue bike has a black stem. My seat post is a DuraAce aero, the catalogue bike sports a fluted DuraAce stem.

This bike was purchased in Morgan Hill and has been in my possession in San Jose; my nephew "owned" it in San Martin, CA, which is between Morgan Hill and San Jose.

I would love to sell this bike to someone who would ride and appreciate it, understanding its history. I have spoken to the Santa Cruz Specialized Center in Santa Cruz, who may be interested in the bike to hang on the wall. Ugh. What an ignominious end this would be for such a unique bicycle. A wall hanger!

I have not seen the catalog, but would like to. Do you have scans?

I will check the serial number today.

Hi Jetboy:

I had a 1999 900 SS, fully faired, and it was a great bike. I sold it to my nephew who in turn sold it after a few years. The bicycle is a 56cm.

I still ride a 1999 guzzi v11 sport. but a guzzi "sport" is not like a ducati sport.
