Trek 2500. Picked up yesterday and imagine the surprise.
So while searching OfferUp under Dura-Ace, I stumbled onto an ad for a 1987 Trek. Pictures were not great. Blurry and foggy at best. Reached out to the seller and decided to make an offer prior to driving out. Drive to see the bike the next day and found a bike covered in about 30 years of dust. Bike was complete and seemed structurally sound. Perfect brake lever hood, brakes, front and rear mech’s. Beautiful Concor Supercorsa. 1987 Look pedals.
The decals and all perfect but could not really see the condition of the clear coat but figured it was good when I rubbed the dust with my finger and looked shiny. Bars wrapped in leather done in baseball stitch. Tires were terrible, still are. Need new tubulars. Fast forward two and a half hours of detailing at a park and I end up with a pristine 2500.
Zero scratches and beautifully bright components and flawless frameset.
The kicker about this deal if without expecting, I was given a duffle. Surprise! Brand new pd7400 pedals with toe clips and straps. New cleats for the pedals. Lightly used Rudy project glasses in new condition. Tools and the original purchase paperwork with the sale tag that hangs from handlebars when on display.

That is nice ! Score on the glasses too ! Big oversize shades are hot style now with the younger set (Pit vyper's, big retro Oakleys, etc)

I actually like those 7400 pedals. I love the story behind my set, I found a right NOS complete pedal at my favorite thrift store and didn't find the left for at least 6 months. A couple weeks after finding it, I found the original pedal service wrench at a different thrift store across town.

Right!? I need to cover my receding hairline. Cap would have been real nice. Now on the lookout for a NOS late 80s cap😀. I’ll feel like in my senior year of high school. 😆

I actually like those 7400 pedals. I love the story behind my set, I found a right NOS complete pedal at my favorite thrift store and didn't find the left for at least 6 months. A couple weeks after finding it, I found the original pedal service wrench at a different thrift store across town.

They sure are. My daughter is going to make some molds for me and I’ll make them available at a very reasonable prices. Time for everyone to put their immaculate ones away and switch to some replicas as an insurance policy.

N.B. the toeclips tend to run on the small side; I wear a size 41 shoe, and a medium clip was just barely long enough.

Agreed, they're quite nice. The blind outboard axle end gives them better cornering clearance than just about any other pedal. Although they were marketed as a road pedal, that clearance made them popular as track pedals. I have a set on my fixed gear, for that reason. The service wrench was included with the pedals, but even after more than 30 years, I've never had to use it. Still smooth as silk. They came on the market right on the cusp of the clipless pedal revolution, and were only made for a few years.
