If you had asked me how much an oil change was I wouldn't have known. Was not part of my job and I don't know if I ever paid for one. Some years back an idiot manager tried to make all of us do them.
We had cheap oil change specials and lots of people came in and overwhelmed the lube department. His solution was to hire an army of teen boys to do oil changes.
Apart from the obvious issues with having a bunch of knuckleheads working on cars for the first time, what could go wrong? One of the little darlings found out about a law in California where mechanics are to get double the minimum wage, (it didn't apply to them). He went to management demanding double minimum wage and when they refused, he convinced all of the others to quit, (I think there were 6 of them).
After that the manager called a shop meeting and told us we all had to do oil changes. Sorry, ain't gonna happen. He wanted to fire me so bad. I was his nemesis.

Ummm, supply chain issues. Also, more and more cars are making their oil filter proprietary making it hard for after market companies to supply them.
When I worked at an oil shop it wasn’t uncommon for us to have to run to napa or advanced to pick up filters for certain cars. We didn’t see enough of these cars in a year to order a bulk stock and or our supplier didn’t make them.
110.00 seems pretty common for oil changes now a days. I change the oil on all my cars because of this. I can get 5 quarts mobile 1 for 29.00 dollars and an oil filter for 13.99. It takes me 30 mins, why would I pay 100 percent more for someone else to do it.

I paid $20 last time, Plus 4 liters synthetic oil and a filter. That ran around $35. I had to order the oil on Amazon because I couldn't find 0W20 locally. Well I found it at AutoZone for twice the price of Amazon. In these parts AutoZone and Home Depot are the most expensive shops going. You go there if you have no other choice.
Good for 10,000 km. About a year for us.

attempting 20 miles in the morning. Been pretty active all day. Did a bunch of house stuff, took a part an ikea book shelf and put it back together. I always mess those up the first time, cleaned my bikes, reinstalled the chain on my madone. Overall I feel good, body might be a little tired.

I hope the ride goes well.
I need to do some of that bike cleaning. I got the Lemond done the other day, but this one has never been cleaned since I assembled it.
Also fresh black bar tape on order.
Also a couple rolls each of the orange, yellow and pink because they're so cheap here:
I bet they had the black cheap also, but it disappeared instantly!

So curiosity... what car is it, and where did you take it? Dealer, I assume, which is rough but on a new car if it's a completely new filter I can see supply chains causing an issue, but not great... I'd have hoped that most cars at dealers would have a few compatible options. I know you can put a larger on on a lot of Hondas, for example.

Oil change on the Dodge is about $100, too, with 7 qt of synthetic. But that's every 10,000 miles, so I figure it all works out. That, and there's a skirt or some other panel that has to be removed to get to the drain plug. And I don't have a garage or driveway to work on it.

exactly! My reasoning thus far was: I received a complimentary oil change offer from the dealership. But they didn't mention the 3 week wait. So now I have 5k miles on it and it's time for the change. So to prevent problems with the warranty I elected to get sodomized by Uncle Ed. So I think from now on I'll be back under my car every 3 to 5 thousand miles changing my own oil. I'll have to fight it out with the dealer if I need warranty work if it comes to it.
We bought our brand new mazda in October. Was supposed to come with free oil changes. Between October and March the dealership sold, so now we don’t get free oil changes.

Oh, I've been keeping up. I haven't posted all the stuff I've seen here though. I figured interested parties could find more stuff on their own
