Help me find out this bike's spec...

Hello, I live in South Korea.
A few years ago, I bought an old French randonneur from Ebay.
Because I;m fighting againsst brain cancel...
So I wanna travel all around my countrey with this bike.
My condition is much better than before, but I got a visually impairment.
I decided to just restore it as original.
I think it was made betwwen 1961~1962 by PEUGEOT and the name of this model will be PL40.
Fender is aluminium, the lever is on the side of top tube and 3 speed rear part.

But I;m very confusing about thes all parts...
Front twhell is AVA rime and Atom hub made is 1962
rear wheel is rigida made in 1983(?)

If some is know well about peugeot bike, please please let me know sbout whole specs bout this bike...
There's no way I can find by myself, and I also wrote an email to bikeboompeugeot but I couldn't got any reply(I donated to ALCS)

Thank you for reading this long writing
Have a great day~

Hi Ted, Welcome!

Is your goal to restore it to 1962 specs and ride it around the country?

Or is your goal to ride your 1962 bike around the country?

It sounds like the original rear wheel was either damaged or lost, and replaced with that '83-ish one. 🤔 Hopefully, someone more familiar can verify that.

Good luck, sounds like a cool project. 🙂

Good Morning and welcome to the forums. Riding around your country sounds like a fabulous goal.

I’m guessing the rear wheel was replaced for some reason in the mid 1980s and that's why it’s different.

Personally I’m a bit more about function and comfort. While it might be a great achievement to restore this bike to 1962 factory specifications you might find it’s compatible with you idea of comfort and your abilities as a cyclist. (Although for all I know your an avid 50 mile a day rider )

Most information about bicycles built before about 1996 on the internet was put there by fans of that brand of bike. I suspect the above posted brochure might be as close as your going to get.

I find out the specs on that website, but the 1962 pl40 was not that premium model...
So the catalogue and brochure was about size, material...

The og color is cognac, timber(timbre) bell, porter handlebar, simplex 3 speed deraileur and freewheel
So I need more about exact model name of ideale saddle, lyotard pedals etc...

Anyway thankss a lot~

Ted B., I've watched videos of cyclists riding about your country. I have never been there but from the videos you country looks hilly! Maybe not everywhere (like along a river). Your new/old lovely bicycle is perfect for around towns errands and getting a little exercise and some fresh air. I love to ride that kind of bicycle! It would be great if you can fix it up properly. It isn't particularly well suited to touring by bicycle (although possible). Most people want more gears and a drop handlebar to do that.

I teach bicycle framebuilding classes and I have had a couple of students from Korea. There are certainly some bicycle enthusiasts in your country.
