I'd been holding onto that Simplex FD for a while intending to use it on one of my builds, but it looks far too nice for any of my project frames, so in it went. I don't recall where I acquired it - possibly from a previous BOC.
Same goes for the Campagnolo single shifter that SwimmerMike pulled. Seems he found use for the bottle cage as well.

Once again it is time to ask for players to sign up. The "Box O' Crap" is probably the least expensive way to find some treasures for you bikes and builds. For example: just one derailleur is about the cost of playing the game and most get more than that from the box. Just look at some of the items taken in past few weeks. Quill -> Threadless adapter = many mo’ stem and handlebar choices.

The Shimano bar ends came through the Bicycle Project my local co-op that were in a box of stuff dropped off there. They were added by Mountain Dave during a BOC refresh to get some of the crap a bit more acceptable "Crap" to be available. I trust they will be put to good use. Smiles, Crapmaster Honk

My haul (shift levers, bar tape, bottom bracket and hopefully freewheel destined for my Conti, bell for my around town Dawes, CatEye plugs maybe for my Griffon, but we'll see how they look there, if not, then onto the Redcay):

One other small bit of info... I find pirateship.com to be a great way to save a few bucks on postage. For example, retail large flat rate box postage is currently $21.50, but the Pirate Ship price is $18.98. In addition, you can purchase first class and parcel select postage online, something the USPS website won't do. And, they will sometimes quite a lower price via UPS.

The BOC has landed at Chez JulesCW!
I was leaving for work on my bike when my mail carrier -- a wonderful woman with a good sense of humor -- honked at me as she drove down the street. I stopped, she pulled up, and said -- "glad you're here, now I don't have to haul your box of rocks up to your porch!" Yes, it was the fabled BOC, straining the muscles of mail carriers across the USA.. it was here! I told her it was actually a box of crappy bike parts... she laughed and shook her head. I took the box from her -- yep, it's darn heavy for its size -- and toted it inside. I only had time to open it and to pull aside the vaunted Sekine pie plate and a couple of envelopes (no idea yet what's in them) and snapped this photo, then headed out. So until later today you all know as much as I do... Looking forward to later today when I can dig into the treasure trove ... Fun times ahead! Will get the BOC on its way to its next location out west after the Labor Day weekend -- likely on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The freewheel was barely used. I don't remember what bike I put it on, but it was only on there a brief period of time as Now only use vintage Dura-Ace (thanks to PastorBob). In addition, you now have a part that came from Cupertino Bike Shop....

The BOC, having had a two-stop sojourn in the midwest, now yearns for the fabled spaces and enticing opportunities promised in the land of milk and honey -- the west coast -- so with a tear in my eye I send it off to seek it's fortune. Yes, L134 , the BOC shall be headed your way tomorrow or, at the latest, on Wednesday. May you and it enjoy each other's company...
My haul of concrete items and ephemera are pictured below -- pedals will go on a friend's commuter, the old Simplex skewer will be polished and take it's place as an honored piece of desk clutter, and several projects are competing for the derailleurs and Shimano skewer.
My additions are worthy of their compatriots in the box, and I wished them success in their search for a meaningful future as I taped the box shut and temporality extinguished the light...
Man, unpacking and packing the BOC is an adventure in space maximization -- this is a classic case of lots in a small space.
Thanks for letting me play -- the anticipation was fun, the unpacking elucidating and amusing, the repacking challenging -- something for everyone!
