Stella SX 73 - Finally back together

Well, still a few minor things to do on it but it's pretty much finally done. Put way too much time and money into this but hopefully someone will be happy with it. Not good conditions for pictures this evening but figured I'd grab some while I could. So anyway here it is in all it's glory, LOL! Roads too icy and slushy to even think about a little test ride.

It's beautiful. I hate to shatter the glamour, but is it possible the shifters installed in reverse? In other words, shouldn't the flat edge be parallel to the downtube and flare outward? I don't know these Hurets specifically.

Nope, that's their "unique aero" feature, LOL! YES, dang it I kept seeing that but it just wasn't registering in the old brain. Hence why I'm giving up on doing bikes and downsizing the collection. My mind wanders too much now days to keep at this.

Fortunately I've got an extra set of those Huret shifter cables so I can fix that.

That's a most wonderful job you have done with it!

Those VO chainwheels look "just right" on there.

Please don't forget to append it to our "...show us your latinate star..." thread.

---

something off here by ~2mm

possible causes:

a) wheel dish

b) axle not bottomed in slots of fork ends

c) fork alignment/blade length

Looks really good! It almost makes me want to order decals for mine. But then, I'd have to refinish it first...you know how it goes. A bigger ball of wax than I am inclined to deal with at present.

Aren't bikes like this undervalued in by the customers in a bike collective? Maybe the shop will sell this on the 'Bay?

I dunno, I'm not sure I could give this bike away. It looks terrific.

Well it's never about the money for me. This bike was bought with the intention of giving it to the collective. They do a lot for the community so I usually send at least one bike there way each year.

They do sell on Ebay and this may wind out there too. That will be for them to decide. It's all about getting another cool ride back out on the road.

oh yeah I volunteered at the local bike collective pre COVID. I was just thinking that the collective is likely to get a better price on eBay than locally.

I gotcha, they probably will. Usually that's where the good stuff goes.

I dropped it off about an hour ago. Now on to the Softride. Was hoping to finish the Ochsner and finally ride it but the place I ordered the stem from accidentally sent the wrong one. Projects never end.
