Moisture Damage on Tire?
Over the winter, I had been using my front tire to hang a wet towel on to dry after I get out of the bath each night.
Today, I noticed some fine lines on the smooth surface of the road tire (it was hard to get a photo of it). They don't appear to be deep, but there was more than one section of it. Can repeated moisture do this?

Were it me, I'd hang my towels from the drop bars. But my wife won't let me be me when it comes to decorating the house with old bikes so there's that.

Rubber is pretty much impervious to water. The casing of your tire might not be, so if there are cracks in the rubber or other ways for the moisture to get to the casing, that might be what you are seeing. Doubtful that this is an issue other than cosmetic and it might go away as the tire dries out.

When camping and have washed the day's kit I have often used my bike as a drying rack. But at home the wife likes me to use the drying lines I put up in the basement. Andy

A bike tire doesn't seem like a clean place to put your towel, that's all.

This response is as detailed as possible given the inputs; or in other words, just guessing.
Bike sat all winter, tires oxidized slightly on the surface. Went for a ride, the road wore off the oxidized part of the tire.
