I spent a lot of time traveling over the last 6 weeks, driving around 6000 miles and limited miles on the bike. Now I need to spend time on mods to a stumpjumper to make it a drop bar bike.

Looks like I'm going to be one ride short of my goal this month. Work and weather this week tripped me up. But I think now that things are warming a 200 mile April is a reasonable goal.

I didn't really like the saddle that came on my new Trek. Decided to try out a Brooks B17 leather saddle that a lot of people seem to love. Found a bike shop on eBay that had a new one in a damaged box and they were selling it for $65 shipped. Arrived today and I completed tonight's ride on it. I was prepared for some discomfort until it broke in, but it wasn't that bad. What I hated was how slippery it was. From what I've read, that should lessen as it breaks in.

That seems to be a common problem with the leather brooks. Be sure to tilt the nose up a tad if you feel like you are sliding forward. I get the C-17 carved, no sliding or break-in issues. I initially got it for my touring bike so I wouldn’t worry about damage from rain or morning dew.

Good riding with the new saddle

I've been riding on a Brooks B17 standard for the past 10 years and I'm very pleased with them
