Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I thought the movie was fun, and kind of funny. They get a lot about cycling right. One thing to watch is where the girlfriend does a very professional fast rear wheel change during a race. Impressive. It took a lot of practice, takes, or both. Costner can't and never could act, IMO.

Both movies are in my short list of worth watching. I find both entertaining which is kinda the point of movies anyway. Vision Quest was filmed partly in my HS and I went to school with many of the extras in it, another great movie. If you dislike it so much why watch to the end?

On our group rides, we will usually here..."Up david...Up...good boy" or "MARCUS WATCH YOUR LINE!" At LEAST once each ride. I had a buddy that doesnt really ride with us much these days, but he used to try and get as close as possible and push me with his chin like Muzin did to David on the final stage. Used to piss me off when he did. The last time he did it to me, i gave him a mouth full because our bars touched (As I was yelling at him to stop) and we almost went down.

Agreed. And yet the same person who wrote Breaking Away wrote American Flyer. Go figure. Breaking Away is, I think deservedly so, #8 on the American Film Institute's Top 10 sports movies.
