Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1990 Basso Ascot. Mine had all Dura Ace. The "B" and "O" decals fell off on one side prompting everyone to say "Nics A S S ".
Check out my NOS Basso Ascot, you should like it?!?

Wow, that is pretty darn close! Mine had down tube shifters, and a white American Classic seatpost. Also, mine was a size 60 or 62....

I miss that bike

This is the only Italian steel bike I've kept - an '85/'86 Pinarello Crono. It has Columbus Air tubing, a wedge-shaped head tube and vertically-arranged shifters.

That's one of the hotter bikes I've ever seen.

I thought Bianchi's were Taiwanese. I would expect an Italian bike would be made in Italy, not HQ in California and made in Taiwan.

They used to be made in Italy. I think my AL Via Nirone was one of the last "Metal Bicycles" made in Italy

Beautiful shifters. Probably the best ever made. Rarer than hens teeth now.

Here's my one of a kind Italian "Abarth" Grigio Road Bike:

Just kidding... This is my just finished restoration project that I created to match my 13 Abarth. Lots of little cosmetic details and a few modifications. It started out as an 86 Sintesi 6sp that I converted to 7sp. Here's a before pic:

Enjoy

Updated pix of my Basso on a recent vintage ride, riding shots too!

I have Celeste bar tape waiting and a newer San Marco Celeste seat also waiting to put on.

I just love my old turbos though, HTF those in Celeste!

My Torpado of 1961ish vintage, owned since 1969. Commuted one Summer into Boston, rode from Montreal to Boston, and a bunch of other stuff. A much loved bike. Only one other Torpado in the list. I have the original pump and fenders for it, too.

The Frejus was my Father's, and dates to the 60's, but beyond that I'm not certain.

Some pretty bikes here - and, for the one who 'didn't get it', well, that's just OK, some do, some don't. The ones that do are, of course, special
