That sounds like it's designed to fail. Is there room to slip a cable housing liner over that little bit of cable? In C&V they use those liners where the cable passes under the bb shell. Maybe a drop of solder to keep it from fraying. Or a drop of super glue.

Different brand cables?

Breaking there is a normal effect of the design. It seems that datlas is experiencing a higher than normal failure rate.

I saw her on t.v. with Colbert, I think, and she said the candle didn't really smell like that, it was just a cutesy name. I've never smelled either the candle or it's namesake, so I can't vouch for that statement.

Just watched the TDF Femme. Pretty great stage today. 9800 feet of climbing, big shake up of GC.

I know for a fact I mentioned that that happened to my R8000. Shimano wants you to go Di2 or pre-emptively swap the cables. Yes it's a cop-out on their part but SRAM comes with bigger issues.
I was meaning to go Ekar at the end. Had it all planned with a shop in Boulder to do the work.

Touring cyclist here from The Netherlands. I plan to ride out with him for an hour before turning back in time to receive the one from South Korea. Busy weekend.
We've now had afternoon thunderstorms for 7 days in a row. Or is it 8?. But. We have come through June and July with no tropical storms or other wind events.

To speed up transition we replace normal laces with these elastic ones. There are multiple types, including ones that look like normal laces and you just leave tied but can stretch to put your feet in without untying and then retying. This is the most common (and critically means I can just pick up at a running store at the same time as the shoes, since I have several at home but didn't bring any). The thing at the top is spring-loaded so you can leave it as loose as you like, shove your feet in as you hit transition, and then yank them close as tight as you like and hit the run.
However, because the laces have a little give they're more comfortable (or can be), and for people with Asian backgrounds and a no shoes inside rule, it makes it a lot faster to get them on and off multiple times per day. AG's dad is now a convert.
There are even people who use the other variety in laced cycling shoes for tri. Boas are unaero.

Cloudy again here but it seems to be clearing. Yesterday it was overcast and cool until the ride was finished, then came the heat. I went to the club and there were 3 rides heading the same direction. The fastest group was doing 100+ so they set a fast pace and those of us doing a paltry 50 felt obligated to hang on. For some reason they kept waiting for the slower riders, even when one had a flat.
This led to dissention and some of the slower riders turned back, which was weird because they could have just cruised to the break.
Some newbies came and stayed the course including a guy who was toast when we stopped for snacks. We lost him on the return even though we waited and waited and waited every few miles. He might still be out there somewhere.
Rode with an old friend who appeared on the road and stayed with us for a while. Haven't seen him in years. He was a cat 2 and quite strong, saw him win in a field of 100 riders once. Turns out he had a heart attack last year. Anyway he looks great now and is sporting a stent in the blood system.
Another guy came back for his first group ride since a bad leg fracture last year with surgery, etc. He's been Zwifting and riding around his house and he did fine. He used to drop me easily on climbs and was quite the French shower about it. I think the whole experience humbled him a bit and he was friendly to me and even said "nice riding with you" when we split up at the end.
