Gitane Professional Tour De France frameset - 56/57cm
SOLD
****Took an entirely new set of photos, so moving the old pics down.****
Decided to let this one go. This is a rough, but still halfway-presentable Gitane TdF that has a sort of patina'ed charm to it. Photos pretty much tell the story; I've polished the frameset and fork where possible, but there's a line of notable line of rust from where the rear brake cable sat and also around the decal area of the downtube. Cosmetic, not structural.
Rear triangle was straightened, though it's clear the brake bridge was never quite straight from the factory. Fork is nice and straight. Simplex dropout has not been butchered. The Stronglight headset is functionally rubbish and will need to be replaced, or at least the cups. Including the headset for parts and to hold the fork on, that's all.
Handlebar and stem appear to be the originals, and the Mafac levers are present with the cable adjusters. Hoods have seen better days, but the plates that the cable guides fit through are there.
Left shifter has the cable end stuck in it. Haven't had time to drill it out.
57cm top tube CTC
57cm seat tube CTT (~56cm CTC)
Made for nutted brakes
French BB threading
Price reduced to $80 + actual shipping cost. PayPal (you cover fees) or MO.

***NOTE:
When I first listed the Gitane, I had posted it with it's crankset installed and a pair of spare wheels on it that were propping it up. These are not included, but I'm leaving the photos up since they show a lot of closeup detail.***

Very nice job of showing all the details. I looked for a long time for a Gitane TdF in my size; they're not easy to find in this size. Almost all the ones I've seen are 58-59 cm; dunno why but I reckon French fit was really a thing BITD. GLWS

Max tire size in 700C, or 650B? Just want to make sure.

romperrr - I went ahead and took measurements of the Gitane's clearance with a pair of CST 25C's on it. Can't vouch for whether I had the rear wheel installed perfectly straight though.
I took these photos before your reply came in, so I also "semi-installed" a 650x42B from my Bottecchia project in the front and the back. Note that since this is a Sturmey Dynohub, I couldn't really bolt it centered to the front, nor did I have enough axle to install it centered in the rear. Nonetheless, I was able to get some fairly decent estimates that should indicate everything you'll need to know for just about any tire size.
Take a look:
650B:
As you can see, I had to "approximate" the wheel in the center as it could be slid only into one dropout for a rough hub center position.

Thanks for the detailed pics, currently trying to talk myself out of buying this and I hope someone saves me from myself.

Seriously though, if send a PM with your city/state/zip, I'd be glad to find out how much it'd run to send it via BikeFlights. I've been able to ship a few framesets for about $35 recently, though they usually eke under 16lbs and haven't had a bar and stem with them.
