Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sold this today. I did not list it on any auction sites.

The buyer did bring a trailer though.

Sad day or good day?

I’m always a bit sad when I sell the fun stuff.

Blue dot? You mean that you had a location lock the whole time? I take it you didn't have it mounted to your bars/stem and visible the whole time?

I was leaning toward just doing 55 miles. Then I got to the turn-off where one way makes it 55 and the other makes it 65. I took the latter, and the mind and the legs seemed to start waking up. I was more focused, and pushing harder I practically TT'd the 8 miles on the Alameda from Los Altos to Palo Alto, even though I hit EVERY GODDAM RED LIGHT the whole way. It wasn't one of those days when you feel like a Cycling God, but you know, it was pretty good anyway.
Happy birthday! Get yourself a new old bike.

I don't know about you, because I can't see into your head (thank god), but for me, it's like there are two parts to my mind when riding. One focuses on the riding - speed and effort and not running into things - while the other wanders, but generally stays with a theme or an issue, or something. Today, it was like that part couldn't settle down, and kept distracting the 'focused on riding' part, so I'd find myself tooling along at 12 mph in a place where I generally go more like 15.

Not sure how to describe it other than that - my mind wouldn't settle and let the riding part do its job the usual way. I can see the effect in my HR trace on Strava - the 16 miles before the turnoff, my HR averaged 115. The 22 miles after the turnoff, it averaged 130.

Not a lot of CPU usage required for Velo Vol cycling, save for traffic monitoring.

Once you have enough miles under your belt it becomes largely automatic

Not too hard when riding consists of half-mile laps around the office park.

Both.

It served us well for over 17 years. 195k miles on the clock.

Somebody else can play with it for a while.

Long time and lots of miles!

people always say they are crap. But you have to keep in mind what they are for and the resulting limitations. We love ‘em, and are on our third.
