What venue is this for the Lantern Festival? Probably 15 years ago, I took the Altair family to Toronto to see the festival at Ontario Place, on Lake Ontario. The water element really added to the atmosphere.

Finally got a video of this great cemetery ride. as you see all uphill I think the steepest part is about 16% I was freaked out when google directed us to this the first time. but they have bike lanes and its the most practical way over the hill. a lot of great views from it of the sellwood bridge and the Willamette river. this is Riverview cemetery. no clue why the woman were jogging in place.

Finished up stages 6 and 7 of my ride across the US by riding from Northfield MN, through Wisconsin, Michigan and Ontario, and down to Niagara Falls for a look see. Thanks to a local cyclist who showed us the way and gave us an impromptu tour of the falls!

OMG was that an eye opener. I expected something akin to a National Park … it’s more like Las Vegas with a waterfall.

Good place to be on a bike, though … a lot easier to get around.

Beach near La Jolla. We were hoping for the green flash, but alas, nothing but the spectacular beauty of a regular sunset over the Pacific.

I’ve been away from the forum for a bit. What are you up to? I recall you wanted to ride sections you’ve missed……I rode through there on my XC ride in 2016. Gorgeous area.

Yep. I wanted to ride all of the remaining sections (5-9), but could only manage to get away for two of them. We rode from Northfeild MN to Niagara, Ontario in a couple of weeks.

It was nice to ride in terrain that I don't get a lot of chances to ride in. Endless cornfields and on secondary roads with little traffic. Cool little towns and great little saloons you just don't find much of in SoCal. And most of it REALLY flat, so you could put your head down and put down big miles pretty quickly. Our rides were fairly long for a tour ... 85-95 miles most days.

One thing I could have done without is the humidity. We had a band of shower activity when we were going through Michigan, and it was hot hot hot and humid. It was fully comfortable when riding, but the moment I stopped, I would break out into a massive sweat ... like getting out of a shower.

It's unlikely they'll do Cycle America's Coast to Coast again (it is rumored to be for sale), but if they do, I will definitely do the last two stages. But this time, I am bringing a personal fan and a blow up air mattress instead of the backpacking mat I used for the last two weeks. I'm getting too old for that!

Here is a shot of one of the saloons in Farwell, MI. The proprietor is a woman named Red. She was awesome!

Awesome!!!! I hear ya! Welcome to our humidity!!! There’s no escaping it out riding.

Agree with the terrain. While it’s not hilly around where I live and train in Piedmont NC I was surprised at how much less hilly it was riding across the US compared to normal everyday rides……..except for upstate NY!! Up and down for several days.

I genuinely loved riding through the rural towns, eating at local spots, tasting local brews and hearing folks’ stories. Every day was a new chapter. Enjoy!!

Not a Caribbean resort. These are actual palm trees in Port Dover Ontario where I met up with Biker395 during his amazing ride.
