FS: 1st gen. Campy NR brakes in the box
as the title indicates. please note the lack of any markings on the arms. '68 - '69 (?) only.
I believe the levers and cables to be NOS but the caliper assemblies show signs of light use.
$1200 + shipping. *** reduced to $1100 ***
happy to post additional pix upon request.

Rare indeed! Perfect for that early Colnago restoration. These need to be on a bike

they were *very* popular at the Eroica swap meet. most people didn't initially understand the importance.
as I said then I'll repeat now... if I didn't have a second set I wouldn't *dream* of letting these go
p.s. the other set *is* on a bike. '68 Pela built Benotto that I'm just finishing up.

I didn’t know that the earliest ones had rubber adjusting rings.
Did the Gran Sport version precede or follow these?

my understanding is that these brakes give Campagnolo a complete gruppo for the first time. GS brakes were later.

The brake that spelled the end of the glory days of the best stopper in the peloton. The brake that rules for years. (And could also be used for effects on movie sound tracks - the Mafac RACER.) Thankfully, Mafac shipped thousands of those brakes to our country, packaged in my bigger boxes with labels like "Peugeot".

When using them on a fully loaded touring bike in France in '02, I called them "ralentisseurs".

the set I'm keeping is rider quality and I had to replace more than a handful of parts due to plating issues. that set still set me back $600.

The price is or was market.
$1,000 would get a pair of calipers in take off condition, with later levers, no box or cables.
I have a set on a 1968 bike. Fortunately do not need another.
there will not be very many more of these to surface later. Nice set.
the BF band though is used to complete full Campagnolo bikes for less.

They still have little paper thingy to hole to cable stop in place. That alone should up the price by a two or three Franklins.
The problem, of course, is that the moment they come within the same time zone as a bike, their value drops a bunch, similar to the value drop of a new car the moment you drive it off the lot. It seems to me that the right buyer (1) is a fairly serious collector who intends to put it in a display case or (2) is somebody with concours-worthy period-appropriate frame to hang them on who doesn't care about any potential drop in value. The right buyer for these might be a part of the C&V hive, but my guess he/she isn't. As much as I hate to say it, these probably need to go on eBay to get full value, and may have to go overseas.
Keep in mind this opinion is worth exactly what you are paying for it.

Do my eyes deceive me that a couple of those brake pads look used?
Honestly, for basically the holy grail of bike component$, you need better photo$. iPhone shots do not cut it.
