Maroon bar wrap on Celeste?

I normally don’t ask these questions
but this is the 4th iteration of builds, prior 3 failed for various valid reasons

I would rather not re-wrap
Is there a Rule # for ‘never with Celeste’
Black is the initial choice
Butt…subtle pizazz is my middle name

the fact I have a hard time with decisions never entered into this delayed build or silly handlebar finish question.

Speaking as white-handlebar-tape guy, no.

However, it doesn't look terrible either.

I'd pay no attention whatsoever to anyone who claimed such a tedious rule. Looks great. Go for it. Ride.

Cool choice.

I always thought Lizard Skins or Fizik should make tape in a shimmery gold...

rules of il cognoscenti, this is C&V after all.

celeste is a historical reference for many

would not want to get nailed on th road by an irate Italian with national pride.

wonky is as wonky does

don’t believe everything I think.

Shimmery gold….

Only one gold standard racy bike in my group….so far.

first ride on Bianchi, say it’s gonna be nice, but short of gold std racy. 30 tooth cog makes it apropo for me hills, which is what I need over racy.

Black still the choice.

Maroon contrasts nicely with celeste. I run maroon water bottles. I say try the tape!

When tape was cheap, running odd color combos just to move old stock was a bike mechanics perk.

but fresh white tape on race day, that is what Eddy did.

Maroon is not purple and celeste is not lime green, so your bike is not going to look like Barney.

I also vote for white cloth. It used to match my white (now not so white) Alfredo Binda toe straps. I think I re-taped with new white since this picture.
I just think it looks clean even when it no longer is.
Also, taped from top down.

@Bianchi84 - I like the blue cable housings!
White HBT is classic. For Bianchi Celeste, I also like Celeste tape. It tends to make the bike more monochromatic, especially if minimal or no chrome is on the frame set.

Good looking bike, BTW!

I think it works with the black graphics. I’d change out the Celeste bottle cages to something else for more pop but I’m not sure what color. Probably black.

I think it could work just fine and wish you hadn't started this thread.

I recently picked up a celeste Bianchi for parts yet it seems so nice I may just refurbish and pass it on to someone it fits'. So in my mind I've been going back to forth on tape color between white or celeste or black. Now this is in my mind, dang it!!!

Go custom leather, that's my choice for the keepers. Here is the wrap in progress that I did a fours years ago. Goes well with celeste
I've also done Newbaum green with Bianchi

Go for it, a lot of different colors go well with Celeste, including your choice. I went with boring black, but after looking at the bikes in this thread am reconsidering, they all look good!
