I not so long ago had a squamous cell carcinoma removed from that very spot on my right hand (hole typical to so many cycling gloves), and I'm watching similar anomaly on the left hand that will be pointed out to the dermatologist on the next visit. And, I'm not really the over-the top type of cyclist, . . . . just 77 and been riding for too many decades. Switch gloves periodically and reduce the risk.
