Is it just me, or does it seem like the British are noticeably absent from the podiums so far? The only appearances have been for silver in both Men's and Women's Team Pursuit.

Are the British "training through" this World Championships during a big build up for the Olympics next summer? That'd be my guess.

OK, the men's points race was a pretty terrific ripper.

USA's Nick Rogers put in a very gutsy move trying to get a lap very late that would have put him onto the podium - and he just barely missed it. He made connection on the final lap, but the group had split in the sprint fervor, so he wasn't given the lap.

Great, great race.

Watching the Kilo last night. It's so telling watching riders after the finish. No fist pumps, no points to the crowd, no smiles, ect like every other event on the Track. Even the winner Pervis, after a lap or so with his head down between his knees, can barely mange his hands half up with a twisted grimace passing for a smile. Pretty much sums up the effort required.

similarly, after the men's omnium elimination, Viviani collapsed trackside for a good ten minutes before being able to do anything.

During the second sprint final ride it looked to me that Bourge rode onto the sprinters line and might even have got art least one wheel below the line for a second or less. Hard to tell on the UCI video stream. What do other forum members see?

Update at 5:22 mst: The replay is now on the UCI website. Looking at it several times it looks like he did not drop below the sprinters line. Around 1:20 in this video https://www.uci.ch/videos/men-sprint-...elines-france/

But all ltogerther I thought this was a great WC. Perhaps I'll head to London next year for the WC.

In the woman's Kerin final the Australian woman had a rear tire go down and the race was stopped. The mechanic changed the rear wheel and then she was disqualified. What was the ruling?

The Madison final had me on the edge of my seat. Awesome race!

They said that it was because it happened later than half a lap, which doesn't make much sense to me, they were still riding behind the pacebike. The only reason I can think of is that you could fake a failure if you aren't happy with the position you got in the queue which is harder within the first half lap. But is position that important?

Enjoyable few days racing, Fernando Gaviria is some talent. Saw him RACE at the junior worlds when it was held in Glasgow in 2012 and he impressed there (gold in the omnium and madison) and he's continued to progress. Looked good in the world cup in December and then again on the road beating Cavendish in a couple of sprints last month and now backs it up with the rainbow bands.

Did anyone notice something hanging from Bryan Coquards helmet about 2/3s of the way through the Madison, unfortunately the youtube feed is geoblocked so i cant go back for another look. It was in between his ear, helmet strap and back of head / shoulder.

Some are highlights. Some are full races. The full races were restricted to certain countries (not allowed in the US), but maybe that restriction will be lifted. Not sure how that will work.

I'm watching the Madison right now, it looks like the adjustable retention device on the back of his helmet broke.

For those looking to watch the geoblocked UCI replays on YouTube, I'm using Chrome with the Hola plug-in set to Canada (Great Britain didn't work, surprisingly).

daaaaaaaaaamn. i just watched it.

i was waiting for GB to crack. They were defending their early lead a bit too aggressively.
Can't help but chuckle at Colombia for their strategy totally biting them in the ass.
Goes to show you that madisons are won in the second half of the race. It was great to see some of the more patient teams just absolutely blow the wheels off the race and completely shred the field.
I was surprised that France won it. They spent a lot of energy in the middle part of the race. But they got the points early, were able to stick with the leaders taking that lap, and then gutted it out.

Really, really great race.

it's crazy, when, like, big parts of the race looked pretty sedate... but then the 50km race had an average speed of 54.8 kph!
