Pretty sure you can get the same spine benefit with back extension stretches, e.g., the upward dog in yoga. I these in rehab after a crippling lumbar disc herniation and still do when things don’t feel right down there.
Some degree of linear disc “distraction” is possible in the cervical spine and cervical traction is often helpful for disc-related symptoms, but lumbar traction has not shown reliable benefits.

I also enjoy planks, and bridges. And Foundation Training.

Well I'm about 90% of the way through It, and while I maintain it's not really scary it had the same effect as watching an action movie before bed, where I was was replaying it in my dreams. So when I was watching 24 for a bit, I'd have dreams about running from terrorists in a parking garage. Last night it was me and friends in sewers needing to stand up to a thing that was trying to scare us (but not as a clown). RHR was 61 instead of a more normal 55-58, and woke up sweaty.

I don't normally sculpt my goatee like that; it's done so the N95 has a better chance of sealing.

I liken that area of my back to a tree trunk. It needs to be strong and stable, not loose and bending in every direction easily. If you regularly flexed a tree trunk beyond its normal range of motion, would you expect it to be stronger, or weaker? I would say weaker.

Yeah, same here. The flexibility and blood flow to my back certainly increased with stretches like that, but they also turned my lower back area into a loose "bag of bones" where joints were floating all over the place, and could settle in all kinds of interesting, but painful positions.

Only took me 40 minutes last week when I was prepared for a 2 hour wait.

I'm saying the pain's return was predictable based on the nature of the injury, initially presenting itself as a slight 'ping' that fades momentarily, yet eventually worsens and stays for a lifetime. Hopefully your mileage may vary.

Leftover chickpea, eggplant and tomato mashup with scallions, cilantro and pomegranate molasses for lunch. It's vegan, so at @datlas would approve.
The microwave in our new downtown space has a reflective front, so you cannot see inside. How dumb is that?
