Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Today as I was climbing the paved section of the hill behind the house I encountered a guy about a mile from the top. He had what looked like a dep't. store touring bike. It was loaded down and was parked on a center stand. He was resting in the shade and studying a map. I asked if he was lost and he said no but he asked about the dirt roads in the area. He told me his intended destination and I became concerned. Many miles from where we were with thousands of feet of climbing, not to mention the pavement ends in about a mile and there is loose sand and rocks ahead, not ideal for the sled he was riding with street tires.

It was then that he told me he expected it to take 3 days! Might be fun if it wasn't so hot. He insisted he had enough water (no way) but I told him where to top off before he got to the part where there was nothing. I also told him there were a couple ways to bail out and drop down to civilization if need be. I wished him a good ride and I left. When I got to the top of the last switchback I looked back and I could see him below and he appeared to be pushing his bike. Good luck to him.

V.V. that is your opinion. I didn't just grab the first person I saw with a chainsaw.. I had 5 estimates. I had one for a super low price that would not return my calls after he took the job. I think he figured out he low balled himself. 2800.00 is the buddy deal. I had other prices over 4 k. Maybee in yer neck o the woods things are cheaper, should I drag my trees down there to have em trimmed?

Landscaping is removed. They were here working when I arrived home after work. We had weather moving in so I threw in and started helping. They were 4 Spanish speaking fellers. They were shocked when I grabbed a shovel and started loading the skidsteer bucket by hand.
Just as we finished spreading the top soil . A violent storm cam in fast. Blew limbs down everywhere knocked out over 150,000 customers. I are one of them. After the rain left, they finished loading the debris. And cleaned up everything. Another storm hit. 3 hours later I am hearing thunder again.
I'll post pics later,, I need internet for that and it's down.

Anyone know how to get on the 50+ forum? I've tried writing to an administrator, no reply. I can get to the last post of the forum and read that thread, but not the main page.

Heated seats make perfect sense in January and February in the Actual North.

One thing that I'm really learning to like is the ability to pre-heat/cool my car from my phone before getting in it or even turning it on.
This 2021 loaner Jetta has heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel. Mrs. rjones28 reports that the passenger seat is not comfortable.

They would make sense from November until April in the Quasi-North.

Sadly the Honda does not have them.

Also, start-stop tech is annoying. I stopped to pick up dinner, on the way home from the bike shop. Put the car in park and went inside. Apparently, I forgot to turn off the engine (keyless access) because the start-stop system turns off the engine when you put the car in park.

Could you copy and paste here the http thing? When they added the 41 here the other day they also changed the heading there. I put the new ones in my favorites and now they took away the 41 and the old link works but the old one for 50+ doesn't work.
