Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My car decided yesterday to consume all my bike fund money for the foreseeable future. I'll find out the damage from my mechanic later. I was very pleased I'd parked up when it let go and also that my AA membership covered towing the car to the garage.

this was donated to me.

I might just strip it for the White Industries ENO eccentric hub/SS freewheel, and Chris King headset.

That is not good. I hope it's just a cooler line, or something like that. I must assume it's trans fluid? Or, with the differing fluids out there, maybe coolant?

I'm hoping it's just a line gone as well. It's either trans or coolant. It's not orange enough for the suspension fluid. Whatever has gone is at the back of the engine. So it'll be extra fun for the mechanic to get to. The joys of owing an older french car. This one had been reliable up until then.

You should get on the YouTube Mowing Bandwagon. Put a GoPro on your mower.

I installed a Velox rim strip today and there wasn't a millimeter extra. The juncture fell on a spoke hole, to boot. I put a small piece of duct tape over the seam.
Had it been a silly millimeter longer, it still would have been unacceptable..

I didn't realize it's a Citroen. It looks so....normal.

My Dad once had a small leak in the hydraulic system in his DS21, but the Cit mechanic was 35 miles away, and he didn't want to pay to have it hauled there, because with the hydropneumatic suspension you can't tow them, you need one of those tilting flatbeds. So he filled up the reservoir and headed out, with my Mom following. Had to stop to add fluid once or twice. Mom's windshield got covered in a greasy sheen.

later ones do. modern ones don't even have proper Citroen suspension anymore. They're all coil sprung now. They're mostly just another European car now. The only interesting one is the new Ami: a electric micro-car/quadracycle/city car with a legislated top speed of about 30mph.

Update on my hemorrhaging car. It's coolant. But not from a hose. The mechanic thinks it's a frost plug on the back of the engine. But can't be sure until they dismantle the blasted thing even further. I think my wallet is going to bleed even more than my car.
