In need of advice on frame size!
I recently stumbled across what I think is a proper bargain. It's a 2nd hand De Rosa Milanino (the frameset is original the rest is custom I believe but still good quality) for £500 .
The only hitch is the size of the bike. It's 54cm and I'm 6ft 1. Oridnarilly I would dismiss this as a a suitable size for someone of my height but I've read that the De rosa Milanino only ranged from S-XL (from around 52.5 cm to 57.5cm? I could be wrong though) and it's a 'semi-compact' design which seems to provide the solution of adjusting the seat to remedy any sizing issues. It would be massively appreciated if anyone could shed some light on this as I can't imagine the bike will be around for much longer!!

Are you able to test ride the bike or is this an online find? You would be better able to tell obviously if you can test ride. But just for comparison's sake, I am 5'10 and ride a 56cm modern framed bike with sloping top tube and prefer a 21 inch horizontal top tube. I would think with you being 6'-1" the 54cm frame is going to be smaller than what you may need. Just my $.02

If you know it's a bargain why not buy it try it and re-sell it at the original cost + what you paid for the shipping? To me it's the best way to know for sure it could fit. Is the seller too far away to ask for a test ride?

The author of this article claims to have ridden a 54cm De Rosa Milanino
https://road.cc/content/review/62950-de-rosa-milanino
Don't know how tall he is though.
I'm 5' 11" and have always ridden way too large frames for my size. I've been sizing down though as I get other bikes. I'm currently on a 56 cm Tarmac which by Specialized my height puts me between a 56 and 58 cm Tarmac. However I have so much room for my legs between the bars, I wonder how the 54 cm might have fit me.
However watch the saddle height if you can test ride it. It might not have a long enough seat post.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate the advice! I recon I will give it a miss, my dad has just given me his 'old' Bianchi which defo fits me (I say old it's a 2013 model) so I recon I'll just put the money towards any upgrades I fancy for that. I really appreciate the help though!!
