Do you have pictures? Is it kind of similar to baclava (sp?)?

Escarole soup with bits of pork chop and aborio for starters. My orzo had gotten some "bugs" in it and I didn't want that particular protein, hence the substiution from my normal recipe..

Rabe sautéed in olive oil and garlic. Some ground turkey browned with coriander, oregano, and fennel added to it along with some penne pasta for the main course.

Spawn1 has already eaten earlier (hence the leftover pork chop meat for the soup) and I'm waiting for my lovely wife to get home.

Made a change this month. I decided on a personal challenge....November is no meat. The challenge also includes no alcohol, go to bed early (2 hours earlier), spend more time with the family, and kick the crap out of my to-do lists. Ride a lot too.

Lol, I appreciate your sense of humor. Seriously though, I am of the opinion that meat can be a part of a healthy diet.

I am of the same opinion. I'm not a vegetarian and I won't be in December. It's just a challenge. I'm also curious to see how my body will respond. Hopefully it will cause the hair on the top of my head to start growing like crazy!

The ticker is set to close on April 1st. I'm not interested in losing any weight.

Eating sardines in my hotel room.

One way to avoid business travel gorging. Maybe later I'll go down to the gym and ride this:

Yeah that does look awesome!

Though it looks like not enough food

I did the pork in foil in oven thing yesterday and made potatoes and mixed veggies to go with it. I got a little freaked by the NYT article that I'd read earlier in the day and ended up cooking the pork for too long. Next time I'll only put it in for 20 mins. Too dry at 40
/facepalm

Ahh - went looking for what you were talking about:

https://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/10/op...iams.html?_r=2

did you have free range pork?

Anyway, pork doesn't factor too big in our household. My wife is vegetarian (or piscatarian now) and makes pretty much all of the family meals; once or twice a week she will make a meat dish (a roast dinner, spag bol or occasionally she will make me an awesome lamb curry from scratch). My daughter doesn't eat lamb (too cute!) or pork (doesn't like the taste although she loves bacon), so that leaves beef as the major red meat we have. Salmon probably once a week or two.

Have the day off so I made a nice batch of steel cut oats with apple, cinnamon, almonds, raisins and pumpkin seeds. And a big ol' mug of black coffee. A perfect autumn/winter breakfast imho.

Something about fake bacon gives me the creeps.

Curry dinner...Pataks and I are good buddies.
* Lentils
* Potatos
* Broccoli & cauliflower in a yogurt sauce
* Tortillas (warmed to perfection)
* A tablespoon of home made pepper sauce

I used to eat "not bacon" when I was a vegetarian. Tasty, but texture and look was never right (even with the fake white "rind" stuck to the top!)

Anyway - big breakfast this morning with my wife at a lovely cafe (including bacon). Made sure I ordered the "big breakfast" to assure her I don't have an eating disorder.
