Hello from Newmarket Canada
Hi all,
I'm new to the forums and wanted to say hello. I've been riding bicycles since the age of 8. I started on one of those "banana" bikes back in the 80's. It got stolen and I got it back again. It got stolen again (same neighbour kid) and I took it back again. Finally it got stolen a third time and this time I found it in pieces. Called the cops on the kid and afterwards I had a sleepless night thinking what would he do next? Nothing happened.
I got a red/burgundy Raleigh 10 speed and rode that from middle school all throughout highschool. Picked up a Miele mountain bike in the 90's (all the rage at the time).
Recently I was looking for a project and I found a Motobecane on Kijiji (local Craigslist) for a good price. I'm fixing it up (and learning a lot!), but now I'm also looking to buy a second one (hopefully even older). Love the vintage.

Glad to have you aboard!
Just hearing your stories I want my old stingray back! More to date though I hope to see your Motobecane soon.
Cheers

Thanks @cyclic_eric , glad to be here! I've been somewhat obsessed with the Motobecane (for the past month). I picked it up based on a blurry picture and an obscure name (I hadn't heard of Motobecane before). Since then, and plenty of online searching, I still don't know alot about the brand. Anyway, I'm anxious to show it to the forum because it's an entry-level bicycle and I don't see a lot of pictures of them on the Internet. It's cream in colour with the rectangular head badge. From the seller its mostly stock (I'm second owner). Given there are a few Japanese components it would suggest it was produced during the component-shortage. So I figure it's dated to 1973.
So when I reach 10 posts I'll share pictures.
Cheers
