What is the frame? Are you replacing a 25.8 sp?

Campy 1044 2 Bolt Seatposts
Campagnolo introduced the 1044 alloy 2 bolt seat post in 1956. This is from the 1960 catalog. Note: 25mm & 25.8mm sizes listed.
I bought an all Campy 1972 Gitane Super Corsa. On the first ride, the seatpost kept sliding down. When I got home I immediately saw the problem. It had a 25.8mm seatpost instead of the proper 26.4mm post. The seat tube was oval. I rounded the seat tube and seat lug out, reamed and honed it to fit a 26.4mm seatpost, problem solved...
A few years back I picked up a 1990 Raleigh USA Team Technium frame with Reynolds 753 main tubes. It took a 25.8mm seatpost and bingo I was all set.
Hint/suggestion.... over the past 18 years I've posted a lot of info on seatposts and seat tube size problems. Try a Google search under verktyg and seatpost / seat tube. Lots of pretty pictures and 8x10 autographed color photographs...

Yea, just remembered this; it's for an old (early 70's) Jeunet, which when I was researching this a few weeks ago, I didn't know 25.6 even existed, and from sheldon browns crib sheet, I ordered a 25.8 and when I tried to stick it in, it was a tad too tight. I was running with a 25.4 which worked, (before I found that crib sheet) but I still wasn't happy with how much of the seat post clamp lugs were wrapped around the seatpost, almost touching. I was like there's no way they let this go.. so I started searching more. When I found the 25.8 I thought that was it! But it's a TAD too big. Though, I feel a really ****** seam on the inside of that seat tube, that I'm actually going to hone out before I give this a really fair chance of seeing if it's a true 25.8 or 25.6.

To in my experience to correct, an adjustable reamer is best and does require some mechanic finesse to get that right. An adjustable reamer will Round out the typical heat distortion as observed on many frames, actually almost all with have some distortion that should be corrected.

Ok, honed it out and it is indeed 25.6mm for this old Jeunet. Even before the honing of that internal seam, 25.4 was just too small, and 25.8 was just too big. Old Jeunets (at least this one) were actually 25.6mm ID's... Good to know. Now I don't need that seat post lol.
