Garmin slow to engage
My Garmin sometimes doesn't begin measuring average speed and grade of hill until I'm about a half mile into the ride. Elapsed time and time of day still show.
I replaced the battery on the part that attaches to the wheel, but I'm not certain it was a brand new batter (it was out of the package) so it might not be a new one. But seems that if it were the battery that nothing would show.

The 2032 button batteries start to run down the second they are out of the package, thus I would buy a new battery and put that in.

My Garmin would always be slow to show an increase in my average speed but was always fast at showing a decrease.

I'd probably change the battery just to see if that's it. If not, check if the magnet and sensor are aligned, maybe something moved a little.

I find that when I have questions about my Garmin, doing an interweb search will pull up the user manual for my model and 99% of the time can find the answer there. Good luck

Be wary of the 2023 batteries you may buy from one of the large online sellers. I've purchased 10 packs of them before, and they were very, very old evidently. Good for an hour, then died. I replaced them with a fresh battery from a smaller pack (cost about as much, though) from a local hardware store and they are all fresh.
